After a nice run at Prospect Park, I was craving an amazing Brooklyin bagel. After opening my trusty Yelp app and sifting thorough my bookmarks, I came across The Bagel Hole. The Bagel Hole is literally a hole in the wall. Don't even think of trying to eat your bagel here because there absolutely zero seats to do so. Nonetheless, this is one of the most amazing bagels that I've had in NYC to date.
When I first saw their bagels, I thought to myself, "Wow these are incredibly tiny bagels." Don't let that fool you because these bad boys are pretty dense. You'll definitely be content after eating one. The outer crust is just nice and crunchy. Once you break that shell, you'll be greeted with a nice softness that is to die for. I go for their egg bagel with regular cream cheese. For those who like their bagels toasted, you're going to have to do that at home because they don't do that at the Bagel Hole. Everything is literally so no frills that I just stick to the basics, which is not a bad thing at all.
The Bagel Hole is a place where dreams are made. They pay so much attention to their bagels that there really is no time to spice up the decor of this spot. It literally looks like nothing has changed in the past 20 years. Nonetheless, you're just doing a quick grab and go while you're here, so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy your...
Read moreWhy 3.5 star? Well I have to agree with some of the reviews. Bagel is tiny for NYC standard. I bet whoever roll it has a tiny hand too. I finish the bagel in like 4 to 6 bites not half but the whole damn thing with cream cheese and 🍅. Serious get someone with a bigger hand or bigger machine.
Bagel with cream cheese and a coffee will cost around $5 or less. This is about the cheapest you can go. Bagel is a cold which I hope was freshly made that day. I am pretty sure it is because they are selling bagel at $90 a piece or $1 for 4 or something if they are like a day old. I wouldn't try anything else and I honestly think they should cut out the salad and other item off their menu. Try something new instead.
The place is tiny. It forms exactly one line in and one line out. After placing an order, you should go wait outside and come in after 5 minutes to pick up. This is run by a young group of men and I appreciate their hard work. A bright lighting and refined menu will really lift this place up a lot.
Check out the pictures for their menu and special.
Nutella cream cheese sounds nasty to me but worth a try if...
Read more202405 supposedly old recipe but no old charm and disappointing. Barely 2 two-star.
The bagel: dense and chewy with a crust, but quite dry. Maybe not very fresh. The plain one is less dry, probably from a more recent batch as the more classic choice. Still, other than the crunchy crust, not too different from the supermarket packs— the crust shows the bagel could have seen better days. To out it nicely, not bad enough for me to throw it away.
Not many choices after 12pm. No pumpernickel not even whole-wheat.
The filling: I didn’t get any because they look rather sad and don’t seem hygienic.
The place: old fashioned hole in a wall.
(What’s wrong with small bagel and small hands? I enjoy smaller ones to try different offerings. Nonetheless 3.3 for a plain and a poppyseed without filling is quite pricy...
