This was a bad experience from the get go. Our flight to LaGuardia was cancelled several times. When they finally told us at 9pm that we would not get in to NY that night, my first call was to the hotel to advise we would not be there until the following day and to cancel that night. After 20+ minutes on hold, the clerk told me he did not know how to handle or if he was doing it right but said he was extremely busy and would have to take down my name and number and get back to me. I never recieved a call back. I called back the next morning and was told I would need to contact priceline as that is how I booked and they would need to approve. Priceline was great, the agent advised she would help but their policy is to gain approval for refund from the hotel. The hotel denied the refund as they held the room for me. During our stay we only saw a desk clerk as the GM works M-F 10a-5p. I contacted the corporate office after our stay and was given the GM's email address. Several back and forth emails, I was finally given the GM's name and number. I was advised to contact priceline again to attempt to get the 1 night refunded. This time I was successful in obtaining the refund requested. Now to the hotel details. Hotel was located exactly where we wanted it to be and was clean. Room was very small and we were in the basement level with our window facing the parking lot. If you are a heavy sleeper it would be great but bright shining lights woke us up each night. After the first night we were out early and back late. No one came to clean the room or replenish the towels while we were away. We relayed this to the front desk and they stated we could come get a few towels but they were limited as they we still doing laundry at 930pm and didn't have many. I did make the GM aware of this but was met with the question of whether we had the do not disturb sign out or if we were in the room when they came to clean. We did not use the sign the entire stay and we were out early each day. After I relayed this I was met with crickets. On a positive note, Breakfast was good. Although it's a great location for us, we will not stay here again. Poor...
Read moreWe stayed for two nights in a room with two double beds. The room was on the small side, but not as small as I thought they woud be after reading the reviews. There wasn't much room between the bed and the bathroom door, so if you have a walker or other reason to avoid tight pathways, ask for an accessible room. ||The room was clean and quiet and had a mini-fridge. We did not get any cleaning service while we were there, which is normal post-pandemic, but hotels usually tell you this when you check in, and we were not told. I think they may be short-staffed because we checked in at 8:30 pm, and they weren't sure if a clean room was ready yet. The front desk person had to call the cleaning crew to find a room. ||The hotel was quiet, and it is in a mostly residential neighborhood, so things close earlier than tourists might expect in the "city that never sleeps." However, the front desk directed us to a good Italian restaurant a few blocks away, and my son went to a Popeye's across the street that is open late. I read a review that said the area seemed sketchy/unsafe, but it did not seem that way to me at all. It was just quiet with few people walking around at night. It is a long walk/short cab ride to Prospect Park, Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Garden. ||Staff was friendly, especially the man working the desk late on Sunday afternoon. The one thing that made me uneasy is that they do not have a luggage storage area, which I have never seen in a hotel before, especially one in NYC. The luggage is stored in the breakfast area, which I HAVE seen in other hotels, but this breakfast area did not have a door, so anyone could grab it. The staff assured my nervous son that they have multiple cameras on the room, but since the guests just walk into the room and grab the suitcases, with no check slip, how would the staff know whether it was the owner grabbing the suitcase, especially if there was a front desk shift change?||Nothing fancy, but a solid hotel that I would stay in again, especially when Manhattan hotels skyrocket, like they did the weekend we...
Read moreI only give it 4 stars because I'm considering my wife's experience as well. It was pretty much 5 stars for me. You can tell it used to be an old apt building but that was a part of the charm for me. Parking is not much of a deal. Never been to a hotel where you had to pay for parking. Just like the other Wyndham property we stayed at in midtown Manhattan, you had to get in where you fit in. Good thing we found a spot across the street, otherwise we could see our car from our window upon paying for parking. That wasn't about to happen. Standard breakfast bar fare for Wyndham properties which is always good quality. Very clean facilities though there was a stain on one lobby couch. Pleasant staff. Our room was on the first floor right across from the elevator and cafe which is convenient to me but for my wife who is a light sleeper, she heard every conversation and noise from the elevator to people passing by. Perhaps soundproof those first floor rooms as a consideration? Mattress was as always firm yet plush. Didn't care for what seemed like a limitation on TV viewing options if you use streaming platforms but that was minor. The bathroom was kinda nifty. I thought it was a closet but that was just the choice of doors. First time I saw large pumps of Dove products in the shower instead of the free travel sizes on the counter. Do that it in ALL your properties please! It rocks and I now have a new favorite soap scent. Haven't used Dove since childhood. The location is essentially Park Slope which is a beautiful section of Brooklyn. Walking distance to the subway and a variety of eateries including food trucks. I would definitely stay there again, just in a quieter corner or floor of the building...
