I go to a lot of bike shops, been to bike shops in different countries and cities, and this is the best of the neighborhood bike shops I've found--ever.
They are also, by the way, one of only two (or maybe it's one again) shops in Queens certified by Trek to sell and work on the Madone.
I do all the basic stuff myself, so mostly I go in for supplies, but when I need a professional repair job, I don't go to a pro shop--haven't found one in NYC that I think is particularly good--I take my bikes to Tony's. Also, because I've been a customer there for a long time, they don't mind when I call up asking for some technical advice.
If you need a bike repair done on a high end bike in Queens, this is the place. It's also the best place to order any kind of bike as I found they have the most reasonable prices in New York City--whether it's a Tour de France bike or one for a toddler.
No slick salesmanship. They wont try to sell you a bike that they just want to get rid of, or push the boundaries of what they could possibly charge you. Tony's is the best place to shop for a bike that not only fits and is what you really have in mind, but one that you're going to be completely happy with.
I guess the difference is, the folks here aren't ego driven bike racers. They love bikes, but you wont find any yellow jersey wannabes here telling you that you need to shave your legs and...

I absolutely love Tony’s Bicycles and the owner. I’ve taken my bike here multiple times for everything — tune-ups, repairs, small fixes — and the experience is consistently excellent.
Compared to the shops I used in Manhattan and Brooklyn (even the UES spots I thought would be “top tier”), Tony’s is faster, more reliable, and they use OEM parts when possible without needing to be asked. They’ll often fix little things for free, like straightening bent handlebars or replacing end caps, just because they care.
What’s even better is you don’t always have to explain what’s wrong — they’ll often spot issues before they become problems. Last summer, Tony warned me that part of my chain was warped. Fast forward a year, my derailleur snapped — exactly what he warned could happen. They replaced it all and had me back on the road in no time.
If you’re ever unhappy with something, just ask to speak to Tony directly. He genuinely wants to make things right.
Also, keep in mind that not everyone there speaks English as a first language. What might sound blunt or rushed is a PROFESSIONAL trying to assure you they have everything under control in their best English.
I’m honestly shocked to see any poor reviews. This is a local gem. I’ll keep coming back...
Read moreGood service but they will try to rip you off. I am not sure if the owner is aware but one of the guys working there is constantly making up numbers for the final cost, and he is trying to get some extra tip/cash for himsef.
My story: I went there to fix my derailleur. The guy told me that he could do it for 10bucks. Then I waited for an hour and he said that it was ready. While he was demonstrating that it was fixed he broke the derailleur. I also asked him if he can adjust the brakes and he said $15 for each but then he said he would take care of it for free. At the end he changed the derailleur and asked me to try it outside. He asked for $15 for his free service in cash while we were outside. Then charged me $55 for the new derailleur and the service. (on amazon derailleur is $14)
While i was there another guy came in to get back his bike and i heard also a similar talk btw them. He was charging way more than what was told him...
