Win Shelter — Local services in New York

It’s disgusting in here everyone here know what’s going on and are covering up the truth about this shelter they place people in these units and they are already infested with mice and roaches lots of it to the point of getting sick! HPD online will show only 22 complaints and that’s because when you give the complaint to the social workers they will keep sending extermination as problem solving and it’s really solving no problem at all! Then they will offer you to bomb the room and on top of that you have to clean it up afterwards it’s a nightmare in here! They use us to clean up an infestation that will never be resolved and it just cycles to the next families no one should have to go through this as we are already goi bc through enough problems and why we are here in the first place! I’m a DV victim and been here for 9 months and my room been inspected only two times and they don’t even come inside they stand out side the door because they know it’s nasty in the units and fear roaches and mice’s getting on them! They have people who work here who are racist and who are not compassionate at all they come only for a paycheck! It’s not right at all how they doing people in here including myself. A boy died here a few weeks ago because parents were abusing a 4 year old boy and he died of fentanyl on top of that no one told us anything til the next day which is crazy to me because everyone should have been taken out of the building in emergency! People in here also have had been retaliated against and are afraid to speak up! This shelter needs to be investigated shut down and repaired PERIOD POINT BLANK!!! You can’t even cook a meal because the roaches start falling on your food from the cabinets and microwave that’s attached to the cabinets you can’t keep food in the refrigerator because there in there to! There also in the dressers where your clothes are in it’s not even funny it’s inhumane and is causing me health issues I never even had...

I was so happy to get out of here that I forgot to leave a review. They did not help me. I was determined to get out of there and I found a place within 30 days. I stayed here at the end of 2021. When I first got the room it was dirty with dead roaches. Security don't knock on your door they just walk in and they come in your room when you're not there. When they see that you're signed out they come in your room and steal items. I heard of that rumor and then I experienced it myself. They stole a bunch of my daughter Pop-its. She had about 10 of them. I took everything with me every time I left but I left those one day just to see what would happen and they were indeed stolen. Those lazy security people just sit on their butts and talk on the phone and watch TV on their phone and take forever to let you in your room if you're locked out but when you're gone they hurry up and go in your room. I heard that they sleep with the residents too. The residence ain't trying to do nothing with their life so they stay up all night blasting music and talking loud outside in the parking lot. Despite the fact that there was a huge parking lot only staff is allowed to park in the parking lot. They don't help you find housing you have to find housing yourself. I didn't have a case manager so I was left to do everything on my own which was okay because I was self-sufficient. When you don't have a case manager you're supposed to see a different one and they all act like they was too busy to help me. They didn't know anything about my situation because they didn't take the time to talk to me I almost lost my voucher...

Worst place ever! No exaggeration. I was greeted by UNPROFFESIONAL young people. They put me in a FILTHY room. The bathroom couldn’t be used. You can literally see the dirt in the tub and all over the toilet. When I asked for something to clean with, they told me to use the bath soap!!! When I opened the drawers in the room they provided, roaches ran out!! And there were egg sacks in every drawer. Then on top of that, they were so un- organized. I’m so happy I got logged out and sent to a better center. I feel sorry for people who get sent there first. If you’re reading this, don’t even waste your time there.
