We had just started exploring the idea of hiring an architect for a kitchen/great room renovation project. When my wife Erica came across the MPG website she called me over to her computer screen and said "Look at this!" We were both blown away by the designs we saw - elegant, rustic, stylish, eye-popping. Kind of, well, perfect. Erica called and left a voicemail that went something like, "We probably can't afford you but we'd love to chat." The next day we got a call back from Mindi and Phin, who were really concerned that we considered them "out of our league." They assured us that MPG works within a broad range of budgets and project sizes. We were excited. Mindi and Phin came out to meet us and take measurements. They were really nice and had this great energy. We could feel how much they love their work. Then came the architectural drawings and plans, which were beyond our expectations, while - true to their word - within our budget. Awesome, right?! So we hired them to project manage our entire reno, and advise/coordinate on everything from design to materials to colors to appliances to contractors. This is our first big renovation project and they have helped educate us about the process and kept us up to speed on all the details. 1. Communication and organization are impeccable. Clear, concise, accurate.
2. Completely unique design. With limitations on space, existing conditions, and our desires, they produced a design that is unique, and will make for a custom house unlike any other nearby.
3. Modern, efficient design method - for existing conditions, they scanned the house with a 3D scanner. For a final product, they delivered a video, flying through the new design like we were inside our home on the computer! They designed an addition for our home and took into consideration all of our wants and desires. From the start, the communication was top-notch, and the process for what we were going to pay for was clear. At the beginning, we spent a few hours together at our house, talking about the existing conditions, design wants/needs, and engineering needs. During the design process, we had regular meetings to discuss the design, and changes we thought necessary. I just still can't believe I found this company. Stunning plans. Amazing costumer service. Kind, smart, and talented people are working there. Now I was so scared of the estimate when I started talking to them. Firms like this charge a fortune. But even their price blew me away. And my lot is a tricky one due to wetland restrictions. But not for Phin and Mindy! They took my lot and turned an almost hopeless project into one of the most stunning homes on the pond. Probably "the" most stunning home. I will never go anywhere else for any projects. They are already starting on my garage remodel too because this quality for this price is just one of these lucky finds you won't find anywhere else. I usually don't recommend people as I worry somebody does bad work and I was the one to recommend them. But I can recommend MPG Home Design wholeheartedly.
