Amazing food - Extra Amazing Service.
To start , the restaurant has been constructed so beautifully that the chimneys from the kitchen emits beautiful aromas right on to the road and you are drawn inside by that magical aromas.. We ordered the following
Veg thali - It had such huge variety in 1 thali. Alu gobi , paneer sag ( kinda like palak paneer see photo for reference ) , mix vegetable , chole , Ample amount of rice , and butter naan. Every bite tasted like heaven. Especially the Alu gobi tasted as if it was straight from a Dhaba . Deserves a 6/5 Samosa chat - We were a party of 5 people. The samosa chat plate was wiped clean within minutes. Amazing taste. Well plated and had the perfect combination of spice and tanginess. 4/5 Chicken 65 : Being a Gravy-terian I couldn't taste it but the feedback from others was ' fingerlicking' good . Another Veg thali - We couldn't get enough of the first plate and had to order another one. Another chicken 65 - No comments needed Momos : There was no Veg - Non veg combo but the server Mr. Lal Bahadur was kind enough to offer us a half and half, and since we were a party of 5 he offered to give us 10 moms instead of 8. How amazing is that. The Veg Momos tasted just okay. But not that bad . 2.5/5. Non veg momos had a better feedback . 3.5/5. I just wished they had Mayo to serve with the Momos. Yes I am one of those who eat Mayo with Momos. Butter Chicken : The butter chicken which was served was very sweet. On request he changed the half eaten dish and replaced with a entirely new dish, which from my past experiences I never expect from Indian Restaurants here in USA. The new dish again tasted straight out of a dhaba. So buttery , perfectly spiced . Just yum 5/5 Mango Lassi : Thick Mango lassi with a good natural mango flavour. 4/5
Special Thanks to Mr. Lal Bahadur who provided with such amazing service that I could write on and on about this amazing restaurant. I had lunch at 3 and didn't have the capacity to eat dinner.. Cherry on top : They had Saunf ( fennel) too. Perfect way to end a meal for every Indian .
Just go and experience their food and hospitality...
Read moreI’ve been coming here since they opened, but after changes in ownership, menu, and kitchen staff the quality of food and service have gone way down. If my most recent experience was a one-off l wouldn’t be writing this review but with every “last chance” given, my disappointment has only grown. How this place still has 4-stars i cannot understand.
I was told that my order would be ready for pickup in 45 minutes. When I arrived after 50 minutes they had to go look for my order sheet and then I waited another 25 minutes. They said that they were busy (they weren’t) but one could be forgiven for thinking that didn’t start making my food until I arrived (ignoring all of my requests in their rush)
After being handed a small bag supposedly containing my entire large order, I asked no less than three times if all of my food was in there. “Yes, yes, yes” I was told. Guess what? When I got home, I was missing part of my order.
Lastly, the food... If the food was great, or even good, then all else could be forgiven, but it was actually terrible. It had no flavor and furthermore I asked for it to be spicy and it wasn’t at all. The Aloo Palak literally tasted like someone had just thrown spinach and potatoes in a pot and called it a day. The coconut naan used to be full of shredded coconut but what I received was more like dried-out pita vaguely smelling of coconut. Due to a similar previous experience, I even stressed in my order to please put lots of coconut in but their assurances were hollow. The pakoras, a missing item I had to drive back for, were like tiny scraps of onion that had been wiped from a cutting board into a deep fryer.
Mr India had a great run, but those days are over. Sadly, it’s no longer worth my time or money. (FWIW the other Indian restaurant in town is...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mr. India in Newburyport, MA, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This gem of a restaurant truly stands out for its authentic Indian cuisine, warm ambiance, and outstanding service.
One of the highlights of my meal was the chicken vindaloo. The chef perfectly tailored the spiciness to my exact preference on a scale of 1-10, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, making it one of the best vindaloos I've ever had. Paired with their garlic naan, which was soft, buttery, and bursting with flavor, it was a match made in culinary heaven.
The ambiance at Mr. India is inviting and cozy, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The decor is tasteful, and the atmosphere is relaxed, allowing you to fully enjoy your meal.
The waitstaff at Mr. India are incredibly friendly and attentive. They go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. Their genuine hospitality adds a personal touch to the dining experience. One of the best parts about dining at Mr. India is the value for money. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes and the high quality of the food. You get big, authentic Indian dishes that are sure to satisfy your cravings without breaking the bank.
Overall, Mr. India is a must-visit for anyone in the Newburyport area looking for an outstanding Indian dining experience. From the excellent chicken vindaloo and garlic naan to the friendly service and great ambiance, this restaurant has it all. I can't wait to return and try more of their...
