⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since its grand unveiling in July 2017 by Newburyport’s own luminary, Merri-Lee Steeves, Harbor Creamery has ascended to the zenith of confectionary artistry, enshrining itself as an unrivaled paragon in the hearts of locals and epicureans alike. Nestled in the picturesque heart of downtown Newburyport, this artisanal emporium crafts small-batch ice creams with an almost alchemical reverence, employing only the most exquisite ingredients—locally harvested fruits, ambrosial Massachusetts maple syrup, and nectar-like honey from neighboring apiaries. Each silken scoop is a symphony of opulent flavors, but none so transcendent as the chocolate chip ice cream, ensconced in a pristine cone and adorned with a cascade of jimmies. This divine creation is, without hyperbole, the apotheosis of frozen decadence, a gustatory masterpiece that redefines indulgence.

Harbor Creamery’s virtuosity extends to its inclusive ethos, offering sumptuous vegan delights, such as coconut-based non-dairy ambrosias, and gluten-free selections prepared with scrupulous care to ensure purity. The portions are prodigiously lavish, even the “mini” an ode to generosity, while innovations like the glazed donut ice cream sandwich, sealed with a panini press, evoke sheer culinary sorcery. The establishment itself is an immaculate sanctuary, exuding warmth with its inviting outdoor seating and a charming children’s nook, rendering it an idyllic retreat for families and connoisseurs alike.

Merri-Lee Steeves has not merely founded an ice cream parlor; she has woven a tapestry of community and splendor that radiates year-round. To forgo a pilgrimage to Harbor Creamery—particularly for the unparalleled chocolate chip cone with jimmies—is to deny oneself a sublime, five-star revelation that will linger in memory as the pinnacle of...

Dear Harbor Creamery Team,

I just wanted to share my delightful experience during my recent visit to your ice cream shop. The moment I walked in, I was welcomed by the inviting atmosphere and the delightful aroma of your amazing ice cream.

The selection of flavors you offer is truly impressive, from classic favorites to creative and unique options that keep customers coming back for more. Each scoop I tried was rich and creamy, showcasing the high-quality ingredients you use in every recipe. I particularly enjoyed the chocolate milk and cookies, which was a perfect balance of sweetness and flavor.

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent service and helping me choose the perfect combination for my treat. Their enthusiasm for the ice cream truly added to the experience.

Thank you for creating such a wonderful spot for ice cream lovers! I look forward to my next visit and will definitely recommend Harbor Creamery to...

We went on a busy day, so maybe that's why the ladies running the show were probably colder than the ice cream. I don't expect a warm hug or a high five, but the mean girl glares were a little icky and we were very nice. There seemed to be a lot of confusion with the orders and my hubby's was done incorrectly the first time and so were a few other people's. I left a 20 percent tip anyways....

That being said, the ice cream was really good, though a bit pricey. I like the organized line situation, but I wish descriptions of some of the original flavors were available and in an easy place to read. It's impossible to guess what some of them are based on the name and even if you want to look at the ice cream in the case, you have to overstep the velvet rope and get in the way of people leaving the register and going to the pickup spot.

Everyone has bad days, so I'll give it...

Excellent ice cream and friendly service from the young man and ladies that were working. The scoop sizes are generous and the toppings that you pick go in the bottom of your bowl and on top of your scoops, if you get a bowl. I do wish they had larger bowls to better contain the ice cream once scoops and toppings are in them to keep stuff from overflowing down the edges. I got rip tide and shark bait with hot fudge and oreo pieces and really enjoyed it. My wife got rip tide and caramel crunch with hot fudge and caramel crunch and she enjoyed hers as well. We would definitely come back!

Harbor Creamery in Newburyport is an absolute gem! I ordered the Maple Walnut ice cream in a waffle cone, and it was perfection. The ice cream was rich, creamy, and packed with the perfect balance of maple sweetness and crunchy walnut pieces. The waffle cone was the perfect addition to my dessert! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the coastal atmosphere made it a fantastic stop while exploring the area. If you’re in Newburyport, treat yourself to a scoop—or two!

Awesome place with options for everyone. They have a great selection of regular flavors and toppings and also offer some non-dairy sorbets. It's in a nice spot too, right in downtown and just a quick walk to the waterfront park. We will be back next time we visit Newburyport. (Regular cookie dough ice cream and very tasty non-dairy mango sorbet pictured)
