I am not a customer of this jeweler.

I was smoking a tobacco cigarette outside of a bar which had open doors. In an effort to not inconvenience those around me and allow my smoke to enter the establishment. I moved three meters to the left to sit in the shade. The owner / propreitor then was rather rude and then later proceeded to follow me to said establishment snd give me the middle finger. I am an adult male who has no issues with engaging in productive dialogue with others. I am a local and understand this is tourist town now. At the same time, I am disappointed with his response on a human level. Would love to habe a conversation but sometimes there are people who aren't able to respond with levity or cogency. I appreciate the fact he is a small buisness owner. I am as well. A little politeness and a desire to not threaten people with expletives and offensive hand gestures goes a long way in this world.

Sad state of the world when this "gentlemens" first response is to engage in this kind of behavior. ". Unfortunately, as a Byfielder and current resident/caretaker in West Newbury, this behavior has seemingly become the norm.

*for the record I was not a customer of this establishment im sure they provide great services in their field.

This occurred on the date and timestamp of the original post. My intent is not to lambaste or shame the owner/shopkeeper merely an opportunity for him to learn something about how his behavior impacts those around him. Ultimately, its not an acceptable way to go through life either a) as a member of the human race or b) a small buisness owner.

An update to my original review below. After reaching out to me, I went in to the store and met with Erin, who had already prepared a few options for me to bring my vision to a reality. I was more than pleasantly surprised and am looking forward to the (new) final product. I think some opportunities for communication in the buying process and even in the creation process may have helped to avoid the situation, but overall I am grateful for the excellent service and standing behind your products. I had purchased jewelry here before and loved what I bought, so I came back here to have a custom band made by choosing a style already in stock but having some diamonds swapped out for blue topaz. I am very disappointed with how it turned out. The salesperson had colored in the stones in the ring I tried on to give me an idea of what it would look like when finished and I loved how it looked. Beautiful turquoise blue and diamond alternating. Sadly, the actual ring that was made for me has barely any blue color to the topaz stones. They look more grey than the beautiful blue I had expected. Not at all what I had in mind and not at all what I was led to believe the final product would look like. And because it is custom, I can't return it. An expensive gamble that did not pay off for me. And even more upsetting because my husband bought this for our 10th anniversary, which now feels like a waste of money. The staff always been friendly and they have beautiful pieces. I worked with the owner, Matt who was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to educate me about the various diamond options, cuts, and settings available. He knew that this was my Mother’s diamond, which was to be set as the center stone in this custom fit. I didn’t want to loose the integrity of the emerald diamond with added diamonds surrounding it. Matt explained that his craftsmanship would only enhance the stone.

The diamond sparkles brilliantly, and the setting is both elegant and secure. I can genuinely say that this ring is a work of art, and I'm constantly receiving compliments on its beauty.

Furthermore, the jeweler's attention to detail was evident throughout the entire process. I also appreciated their commitment to ethical sourcing, which added an extra layer of satisfaction to my purchase.

Overall, my experience buying this custom fit diamond ring from our local jeweler was exceptional.
