New England Sketch Book — Local services in Newburyport

My husband and I were wandering around Newburyport and just happened upon New England Sketchbook. I kind of expected just another gift shop but that is not at all what we got when we walked in; we got a sense of nostagia mixed with artistry. If we browse an antique store, we are the type to not look at the monetary value of a piece, but to wonder about what it meant to the person who owned it. If we explore an old house, we are the type who wonder about all the life that has lived within the walls. This is Corey, the owner, as well. Ask him about the items in his store, the answer isn't just how much it costs or how many he has. It is about what it is, what it came from, what it means, how it came to be, and most of all, how it can be remembered. It's about the story.

We have a family member very proud of his Naval service, and we hoped that Corey had something that could be made into a metal print for this family member in honor of that service. Corey didn't let us down. Not only did he help us find the perfect image, but he also provided the background info and links to books we could buy to complete the story.

I'm so excited to give our metal print as a gift. It is so beautiful and I know it is going to be appreciated for what it is.

A Great selection of unique locally made gifts and novelties! I was wandering around town and stumbled in here. I was pleasantly surprised to find perhaps one of the most unique gift shops in town! This place is completely devoid of tourist-trap nonsense, and instead is filled with carefully curated products from local New England businesses tied to the rich history of the region. The owners are friendly and talkative, but not intrusive or pushy. Prices are reasonable and reflect the artisan work behind many of the products.
