Overall positive experience, but be aware that this is not an experience where you can sit back and relax. They book 14 people on the boat, but there are only seats for about 8 people, meaning 6 people have to sit on the front bow of the boat, constantly avoid the sail swinging over your head, brace yourself when the boat tacks and tips 45 degrees, and generally hold on so you don't fall off too. I would not recommend taking any children under the age of 8 on the boat as it's hard to manage them and all the to-dos on the bow. This was a much more physical experience than I was looking for. Because our group was made up of younger people, it was assumed we would not get the actual seats for the entire 2 hour trip. The crew was nice and we did enjoy the trip overall. One of the crew members showed our son how to tie knots, which he really enjoyed. The crew gave you opportunities to participate in the sailing too, which was a nice option. Other reviews mention narration and tours but I'm assuming that's something the people over in the seats got to hear, nothing that we were told. We walked away having had a good time, but a bit exhausted and definitely thought we should warn others that this is a very physically active experience, at least for those who don't get a seat and spend the...
Read moreMy family enjoyed this. I would like go back and do the racing sail. We did the day sail, and the captain opted for only sailing with the jib, and not the main sail. It was relaxing and beautiful. If you sit up front, you will get wet on some turns. The wind is very cold, wear layers. Plan for your bag to be under the boat deck the whole time, unless you can hold tight, or if you sit in the small designated area (which is limited). If you are on the deck, you will be moving around a lot because of deck hands & sails, and turns, etc. I kept my phone in my bag, I was afraid to drop it, I would bring my phone leash, and dress in different layers. The captain will and deck hands will be able to tell you lots about the area, but it can be hard to hear, and they are busy the whole time. Would...
Read moreWhat an amazing time! We booked this last minute and we are so glad we did. From the second you are in the boat till the time you step off, you are on an adventure on the open seas. The crew was so knowledgeable and beyond friendly. We spent almost the whole time speaking to James and Rebecca about everything from the boat to the history of Newport. They also wore masks the whole time! They had jackets available for us to borrow if needed. I even got to help with the line (not sure if that's the right terms). The crew really love what they do and it shows. We went all over the bay and it was absolutely beautiful. It was 100% worth every penny. Thank you Weatherly for...
