Daiso - Japanese Household Goods — Local services in Niles Township

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was off. The reception we got from the staff was cold at best. No greeting, no offer to help, just disinterested stares. It made us feel more like a burden than customers.

What made things worse was the feeling of being watched the entire time, as if we were doing something wrong just by browsing. One staff member seemed to follow us around the store, which was incredibly uncomfortable and insulting. We came to shop, not to be treated like suspects.

I believe in supporting businesses, but customer service and basic respect go a long way. Unfortunately, that was lacking here. I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Went for the opening event today! Staff is very friendly and the space is very clean and open. The bright lighting really makes things visible in the store. We grabbed a bunch of snacks and organizational items today. The only thing is one of the snacks I bought was expired (Best by 3.26.2025, bought on 3.30.2025), and I didn’t realize until after we opened and ate it. None of our other food was expired, but I would double check the expiration dates on the food items that you purchase from here. I gave it 3 ☆s because of how much merchandise they have and the prices seemed reasonable. I would have spent more time and money there if they had small shopping carts. I have a bad back and need something to hold on to. Very difficult to go through the whole store schlepping those baskets (hand held or roller) and looking at the items trying to check the prices listed on the packaging vs posted signs (currency difference).
