7 DAY RETURN POLICY!!
Wednesday, October 27, 21. I had the worst experience ever! I went to return books that I had just bought. My Shakespeare book had white makings on it. That I didn't notice before, but was really old. I paid at least 62.00 for these old books when I could have paid a Lower Amount on Amazon! I went to return them and one of the guy's there with curly locks; like Shirely Temple's! Acted like he didn't want to return my books and was very rude. I bought these books only at least 2 or 3 days ago! And he said its a 7 DAY RETURN POLICY and he can't REFUND ME!!! MIND YOU SEVEN DAYS RETURN POLICY 62.00 I had Paid ALoT of money. He kept saying that on the receipt its 7 days. Which is a Lie. I said, Half Price has never been 7 days!! I said I shopped her for a long time in the past. He claimed, it has always been that way, and kept putting the receipt in my face saying it's on the RECEIPT!! Like, I couldn't Read! LIKE I'M DUMB! I said please, get me your manager!!! The manager came; did the same thing. Argued; then said he will give me my money back this time! Again, Curly Hair, Shirely Temple's Guy. Arguing Still!!!
This Place, is a Total Rip Off!! I'm surprised to still see it standing, when a lot of them, went out of business! One thing I do not tolerate. is workers and managers with an attitude. Who argue with Customers. EVER HEARD OF CUSTOMER'S ALWAYS RIGHT????
EVER SINCE COVID, this place has never been the same. No excellent book titles here. Just plain; old torn books. Not treated with care! And the place smells, like a barn, when you walk in!
They expect you to pay a lot for their books, then don't want you to return, if something is wrong with them. Knowing that they have damage to them! Ridiculous!
Don't Shop Here. If you do. Don't Pay Over $100 or More? cause you won't GET IT BACK!!!
Also Go On AMAZON!!! OR FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE! OLD TORN...
Read moreJoan said we should stop here on our way back home to Joplin and lords yes was she right.
Such a beautiful store with so many books! It was like I had passed on over and ended up slap bang in book paradise and Joan was my guardian angel.
Before we entered we even met a lovely man with a charming exotic accent outside smoking a cigarette who had us rolling with laughter. For a man with tattoos and glasses he was a dream boat for sure.
I had my list of scriptures to look up but sadly they lacked the books of Billy Graham, Jerry Falwell and Ernest Angley that I was looking for. Joan found some scary looking comic book by a Neil Gaiman and remarked that he must be so popular seen as his books are so plentiful upon the shelves and so expensive to buy. Who would have thought my son’s comics could be worth so much these days. I shouldn’t have thrown them out when he ran off with Latieita.
And so Joan and I would like to say thank you to everyone especially the elderly man in glasses who works there picking books and it’s so nice to see folks of all learning disabilities and physical difficulties given the chance to work without stigma in the store. You do really set a good example.
5 stars for a good environment and helpful staff not pine ing over us silly old ladies. I’ll have to recommend my sone who lives in...
Read moreThis is a store selling used books, with several differences from the normal used bookstore. First, rather than a single storefront crammed with books floor to ceiling, HPB is a spacious place, with books laid out more like a contemporary large new bookstore. Second, like their contemporary new counterparts, they sell magazines and music (albeit used). Third, they sell certain new books. Fourth, they are a chain, and should you be unable to find a particular title, if they can find it, they will bring it in from another HPB, notify you when it arrives, and hold it for you for a week or so. Finally, there are a few places to sit while deliberating which books to buy, and if you can't decide or haven't the money, you can have the store hold the book for you for a few days. But, like the traditional used bookstore, they do buy books. The staff is uniformly helpful, and can tell you whether they have a particular title, and show you where in the store it is. One last point: While many books do sell for half their original prices, rarer books (bacause of demand) and older books (bacause of inflation) may sell for more than half price -- sometimes for more than their original prices. This is a wonderful place to browse, and...
