The Noblesville Indiana store never has enough full service check out lanes open. They usually only have 2 or 3 open and then just open the remaining self check lanes by the grocery section. Just last Monday we went shopping and there was a winter storm starting that evening. The store wasn't busy, however again they only had 3 full service check it lanes open. We ended up waiting 30 minutes just to get checked out. When I have mentioned this is a problem to staff there, they told me it is because they do not have enough staff. Also Monday the lady who checked us out was very rude. I said hi to her once we were up there. She just ignored me and didn't respond. Then the lady in front of me was hooked up to oxygen and elderly. She didn't help the lady load any of the bags into her cart. She just stared at her and looked angry because it took the lady a minute to load them. She had a full cart. We shop at this store often and this has been this way for at least the last 2 years. I myself have a mobility disability, so standing this long is quite difficult. However my disability is invisible. But the lady in front of me was elderly and it was evident she was hooked up to an oxygen tank. Even the self check out lanes always have long lines. It almost seems like this store expects customers to check themselves out. This is very annoying because we always must wait a such a long time to get checked out here. They also never have any self service or full service check out lanes open on the non food side...
Read moreIf you are more focused on loss prevention than treating people with dignity and respect, that is a losing strategy. Tonight, while in the soup aisle, an associate approached my 14yo daughter and started to harass her about what she was looking for, asking what she was doing and then telling her that it did not look like she was looking for anything. I came around from an aisle over after hearing the conversation and the individual walked off. Unless you have explicitly witnessed an individual's intent to permanently deprive the store of profit or goods then you have no right to approach people and harass them. As a family who has conducted most of our shopping at this store and spent thousands over years, and are a family with a law enforcement background, I expect better. Unfortunately this is not the exception anymore, the focus has shifted away from treating people well to ensure return patronage, to profit no matter what. The horrible part is that generations of associates are being taught to behave this way by middle management and team leaders. I don't recommend shopping here if you care about being respected, I don't recommend shopping here if you expect to be...
Read moreWe've been shopping at this Meijer for 5 years, and it was great until they started to remodel. It's clearly an attempt to get people to have to walk from one side of the store to the other to complete a shopping trip.
They've removed the self-checkout for more than ~15 items, forcing most customers to wait in one of the 6 lanes they have open (because they've been hiring for 5 years, apparently don't have enough staff to even man the registers appropriately). This makes it extremely inconvenient for people with severe social anxiety, autism, and other disorders, that relied on this self-checkout function to be able to go shopping comfortably. It's now impossible to get anything bagged in anything except plastic bags. We don't want plastic bags! We want paper bags, and the short-staffed cashiers are rushed into throwing things in plastic bags. Vegetables with cleaning products, meat packages with fruits, etc...
The most frustrating part is that the staff used to be friendly and easy-to-find, but now they look miserable when you manage to find someone.
I'm seriously disappointed in what Meijer decided to do to our local...
