My husband and I had done a lot of of searching to try and find what kind of ring I would be interested in having before getting engaged. Every store we had gone into had given us the "ick" feeling and felt as though all they cared about was getting a sale without being able to provide me an idea of what type of ring I liked. We were walking around downtown Norfolk after being disappointed by yet another jewelry store when we stumbled upon The Exclusive Gem and met Shon. To our surprise Shon had a ring he had designed that had elements I finally liked, but there were still elements I felt were missing. He walked us through what the process of designing a custom ring could look like, educated us regarding diamond grades/cuts/lab vs natural, and was even willing to hold the ring I had been interested in just in case we decided not to go the custom route. We ended up deciding to customize a ring/ band set, which was done in a way where I still got to have input, but was still suprised to see the end result! Throughout the entire process we never felt pressured to make a sale and we felt as though it was a project that Shon was excited to do for us in a cost effective way. I truly feel as though we made the best decision to trust Shon for custom making my engagement ring and wedding band. I have recommended him to everyone I've come across and I've never had such a good experience with a store as I have had here. I highly recommend! Shash is absolutely amazing! I have been going to him for years and he is honest, truly educates you on diamonds, and will help you find the best quality jewelry within your price range. I had my engagement ring that was purchased from another store appraised at the Exclusive Gem (he did a trade in from a previous ring he purchased there) and I’m so thankful I went to Shash. He found a blemish in my diamond that would lead to future durability issues and decreased the value of my ring. He helped my fiancé and I through the process and with his expertise, appraisal, and guidance, we were able to exchange our diamond for a better quality one at no additional cost through the other store. Unfortunately, the other jeweler would not allow a return, otherwise we would have had Shash build my engagement ring. However, Shash is building my wedding band and we will continue working with him for all future jewelry purchases! I recommend him to strangers, friends and family!
