We love this shopping center. It has everything (almost) you could want. Parking is convenient (attached garage) and reasonably priced. The food court is okay. There are a few other options sprinkled elsewhere. There’s a barber shop and a movie theater. For kids, there is a space on the first floor sponsored by the library. They have books, neat chairs, kid table and chairs, blackboards and chalk, art paper and crayons. You just wander in and out as you please. Additionally, they have a few snack food and seating options downstairs (Starbucks, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, etc.) bear the elevators. This is another hot spot if you have kids because of the morning water fountains or water snakes as I’ve heard them called. It’s fascinating to watch. If you’re older and need a break, there’s also a lounge area downstairs where you can wait, read, get on the WiFi, meet up with someone. The mall seems to have something for all ages (including an Apple store) so it can be good for a rainy day. On the food court level, there is a toddler/preschooler play area that we visit every time we go to the mall. It’s one of the bigger and nicer play spaces I’ve seen. We’ve have bad fortune to be there twice when they closed to clean it but it is reassuring to know that it is being cleaned. The play area is freezing! Be warned. I like that they have a guard there during open hours to monitor coming and going. There are separate entrance and exit points too which is nice. In terms of shopping, I tend to go for what I need (browsing is difficult these days) so our trips usually fall on rainy days when we can take advantage of some of the available activities/ shared spaces. I’ve had very pleasant interactions with everyone who works there and I’ve been in most of the shops...
Read moreThe Mall itself is one that we have gone to for years, for shopping, dining and movies. .After this last week I will NOT be going again, and will no longer refer this mall to others. We went Sunday night to see a movie, which began at 8:20, Kingsmen. My entire family went and we were in 2 separate cars. Since the movie started late we knew the Mall would be closed and went in the 4th floor level, right in the food court. When we left to pay for parking we told the attendant we didn't get our ticket validated, but we had our movie tickets stub and from the time we entered the parking garage was just before the movie began he could see the mall would've been closed. He said" too bad" when we produced the movie ticket, saying he already rang it up for $2.00, and would not change it. He charged all three vehicles $2. Needless to say I'm disgusted with his attitude and won't return. The Attendant had a very disrespectful attitude and should not be in a position to work for people where customer service is important. If he had even been the slightest bit kind, I wouldn't have written this review, but because he was so rude to all of us, I felt it was necessary. I have been in retail for over 30 years and would never think to have had this attitude at place of employment no matter how bad of a day I had. And to say too bad I already rang in $2, made me feel as though he was...
Read moreArguably one of the best malls in Hampton Roads. The mall is three stories tall with the food court and Regal Cinema being located on the top floor and a great variety of shops, restaurants, and kiosks on the first and second floors!
It has an attached parking garage that has several stories of parking and always has available space. I've never paid any more than $3.00 to park in the garage, which is easily one of the least expensive places to find parking in downtown Norfolk. And is located right in the center of downtown so it's convenient parking for festivals, events, or if you're just looking to explore the rest of downtown!
I got a little sidetracked, but in relation to the mall, it is a bit more upscale than your usual mall so some of it's anchor stores are a bit pricey (Dillard's, Nordstrom, etc), but there are stores for all varieties of wallets and pocket books throughout the mall. You could easily spend an hour or two in here and still not visit everything it has to offer!
If you find yourself downtown and looking for some inexpensive parking, or a nice place to walk around and browse store fronts while you cool off from the summer heat, or even a place to catch a quick movie or grab a quick bite to eat; I would recommend you check out the MacArthur Center and see what it has to offer...
