The Fanciful Fig — Local services in Norfolk

What a treat! Norfolk is filled with wonderful antique shops but this one is a standout! Nestled in a terrific spot right next to Mrs. Pinkadot and Doumar’s, the Fanciful Fig is a perfect spot to pick up some treats before lunch or shopping. I found amazing handmade candles for a steal of a price. Their antique furniture has some of the best prices I’ve seen around with some lovely pieces at a price that made me do a double take. The inventory is not crowded in—rather, you can walk through at your leisure and not worry that you will knock things over. The owners, a husband and wife team, are friendly and accommodating. They will remind you of their upcoming outdoor antique markets on the second Sunday of the month. Their enthusiasm and excitement for the business is contagious—I plan to be there for their future markets and to watch the Fanciful Fig grow. It’s been a pleasure to discover this store and I look forward to many enjoyable trips there...

The wonderful folks at The Fanciful Fig were both a life saver and continue to be so. In the end of 2023, my mother passed away in Virginia and it was left up to me to handle the estate. I had to move rather quickly and had a bunch of items, including a large record collection, that I knew had value, but I didn't have the time to stay and sell the items. One of the owners, Bo reached out to me and offered to consign the items I was trying to sell. Ever since, they have worked tirelessly to sell everything and I am STILL receiving checks every few months or so. Not only have they been respectful, honorable, and kept their word, but the shop also looked amazing when I stopped in; wish I had more time to peruse it. This shop has so many great finds!!! My friend and I are avid thrifters and this shop is a must stop. Not only do they have great furniture pieces, but they also support local and carry locally made candles (in cool recycled pieces like a vase or tea cup) and other great gifting locally made items that make the best gifts and you’re helping your community. The shop is owned by the nicest couple and did I mention they have the best employee?!!!… their cute and friendly senior dog that says hello if you’re up for it :). We will be back!
