I'm not sure what to think. This Fairview pharmacy has been helpful and efficient for the most part. It is quite a drive to get there but so is everything, given where I live.
I called this Fairview pharmacy today to make sure they refrigerate my HRT patches, since letting them get to room temperature for a length of time will render them ineffective. I have a return of symptoms that these patches stopped. Over the course of a couple of years, the symptoms only came back when I clearly had a bad batch of patches (such as when there was a recall I didn't know about). The pharmacist confirmed they are refrigerated and helpfully called my insurance. So far, quite pleasant. She called me back after calling insurance, and I don't know what to make of the language she used when she told me I have already had "excessive" replacements and insurance won't cover any more (I've only had this insurance company for a year, so that's not great).
Admittedly, I feel a little touchy about how this information is delivered to me because I switched to this pharmacy from a previous one expressly because a staff member was rude and judgmental about the fact that I had to replace a few boxes. It's really not hard to understand this; boxes spilled out of my fridge and I didn't realize that for hours until I came home and found them on my floor. I have so many medical issues that it's a blip in the life of medicine for me. It's not like I'm hoarding HRT or even want to be on this.
So I concluded the phone call by asking how much a box was (and then remembered how stupidly expensive this HRT is when told). I said "have a nice day" and the person sort of said, "mm-hm." Hang up.
I am in a lot pain, so much so that I'd be going to urgent care if I didn't know what was causing this, and have too many bruising experiences in medicine to count. The congenital connective tissue disease from which all this stems was not diagnosed for most of my life and I suffered disbelief and shaming from doctors who could have listened to me and didn't, who could have been humble before the limits of their medical knowledge and weren't. People are fallible, pharmacies are busy, and so forth. But I'd like to not hang up the phone and be left questioning the conversation when I'm already...
Read moreFriday evening I learned I came down with covid after testing positive. Saturday morning when the clinic opens I call to speak with a nurse or doctor so I wouldn't have to go in and share it with others. I was told a nurse would call me back later that day and that they put an urgent priority message with it. By Saturday evening, no call. So, I called Sunday morning when they opened up, once again I'm told a nurse would call me back. No call, so I called after lunch asking to speak with a nurse. The gal transferred me to a nurse. I told her the situation but she said a nurse that works with covid would call me back after 5 pm. Nope, no call. By this time I'm running a 102 temp and very sick. Monday morning comes around, I call the clinic and get transferred to a nurse. Yay, it's the A team. Someone actually helped. When all I wanted was for someone to prescribe to me the paxlovid before the 5 day period was over. Ended up in the emergency room on day 5, just in time for the paxlovid to still work. Whatever you do, don't get sick with covid on the weekend. Urgent care is non existent at...
Read moreMy doctor was fine. The person who took my blood was awesome. Never even felt the needle. The person who calls with follow ups must be burned out and should look for a new job. She just seemed put out to even call me. She called me I did not call her or asked to be called. My husband had his physical today. They called him 15 minutes late. He was gone for over an hour. I started thinking something was seriously wrong with him. When he came out he said he waited over 45 minutes for the doctor. It was lunch time. But if they knew it was going to be that long someone should of said something. He said he was going to give them another 5 minutes and leave. They need...
