IF YOU HAVE A PET!
I stayed with AmericInn Lodge and Suites in North Branch, MN. It's a "pet friendly" hotel so I gladly accepted the additional charge to have my dog in the room with me. My boyfriend and I checked in at about 3pm and headed out to our event at 4pm, returning shortly after 11:30pm. When we returned our keys were disabled so we went to the front desk to get new keys. The lady working tells us that our dog is no longer in our room. I ask "where is she and is she okay"? The lady cuts me off and explains she's trying to tell me why she was taken out of my room, failing to answer my question as to where she is and if she's okay. Turns out she was barking in the room and being disruptive so they took her out and GAVE her to another guest and I was to come get her sometime in the morning the next day. The lady proceeded to tell me that she was barking since 11am (although check-in was at 3pm) & and that animal control was going to be called because I "neglected" my dog with no food, water, or bathroom breaks for the entire day - COMPLETELY FALSE. I took pictures that night to prove otherwise. I was told my dog would be fine because she's with another dog who was her size (12ish pounds). Does that matter or make this situation okay? What they failed to mention is that the hotel guest who had my dog also had an approximately 70 pound dog as well. Is this dog aggressive or territorial? Will they even get along with my dog?
I was told they did "all possible" before resorting to another guest to hold her for the night. I did have 3 missed calls, but no voicemails. How was I supposed to know the unknown number calling me was even the hotel for one; and two if it were a serious issue, I'd expect a voicemail to be left. Brian and I went down to the front desk the following morning at 6am, not knowing whether we'd see our dog again, and we finally got her back from a random person at 7:30am, who told me "I would've kept her", which made me feel extremely uneasy. I called Guest Services the following weekday and the General Manager responded in an email to me with NO APOLOGY! I replied asking for a refund and never received an email response back.
I believe this was handled completely wrong and the encounters afterward were also handled poorly. This all could've been avoided had a voicemail been left; everything would've been dropped that night for me and I would've had my dog with me & safe for the night. This was one of the worst things I've ever had to go through & I hope that nobody else has the same, awful, experience...
Read moreOne night stay, as I was passing through. The hotel, seemed to be recently up graded in some areas. Fresh paint was noticed, as you will see in my pictures. Still some areas that could use a visit. Didnt make it into the pool, as it was full of people. Its ti the right, when you come through thr main doors.
I had a king suite room, I believe. Didnt ask for it, but here we are. Staff was kind, friendly when passed by. The room did get a bit of a face lift; fresh paint and new blinds w/ a black out option. I didnt care for all the mirrors by the jacuzzi, made it feel like a cheap movie scene. The bed is hard as a rock, barely slept cause I couldnt get comfortable. Pillows are hard, and overly thick. There's a micro, corner electric fire place, small desk, small fridge, couch w table, chair and jacuzzi tub, coat closet and a small nook where the coffee pot was, but no coffee or cups.
Tv recently moved to the wall, I feel they should have just added another tv, as watching from the chair, was extremely uncomfortable. House keeper needs to step up their game. The jets in the tub werent clean, the chair and under, had garbage in and under it. The fire place could use a dusting, as well as the bathroom vent. There is not exhaust switch in the bathroom, just a vent. Small shower head, which felt like pins and needles when using the shower. The head setting would not turn. The two sink/mirrors were a nice touch, allowing for one to get ready while another showered. This room looks visually nice, but nothing I would rush back to. Breakfast same ol' processed stuff. Scrabbled eggs and dried out sausage. Waffle maker, bagels, bananas, oranges, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal. Juice machine; org, apple, cran. Small coffee bar opposite the eating area. No cocoa, which wouldve been nice. Not everyone is a coffee drinker. One thing, I didnt care for, was a tip jar in the food area, on top of the fridge. Saying;, "tips are appreciated ". That just didnt sit right with me. I have never seen a tip jar at a hotel.
When using the second entrance, there were cigarette butts all by the door outside, dog pee, right by the door also. They might wanna make a designated dog area or explain to guests, where the dogs can go. When walkin in the second door, one is greeted with a garbage can and hand sanitizer. Nice option. Stairs to the left, for second floor and forward was the ice machine and luggage trollies. Just past them, to the right was the main hall to...
Read moreI looked up a lot of hotels in this area before choosing. This has the best reviews and pictures. Immediately to my surprise I felt I had been miss lead. When I walked up to the hotel there was a young lady smoking out front, I assumed she was a guest. I got to the front desk and there was a sign stating front desk step away and there’s be back shortly. In actually the lady out front was the front desk, once she finished her cigarette she came in to help me check in. The whole time I was checking in she kept sighing and rolling her eyes. I don’t think it was anything I did cause I never said anything, I was just answering her questions. When I got to my room (which was a pet room) the room smelled like animals which I expected, no problem.... but the bathroom floor had an overwhelming dog urine smell, the floor was wet and when I put the towel down it turned yellow. Absolutely disgusting! I couldn’t take a shower in there because the bathrooms smell was too overwhelming. I went so sit on my bed and there was a very large spider web going from air conditioner to wall. Later in the evening we decided to go for a swim, the sauna was closed and a horrible smell was coming from the room. On our way back to our room we sipped at the vending machine to grab a water and sprite, 6 our of the 8 options were sold out. Finally the Powerade was available, then I went to purchase a 2nd one , it took my money and gave me nothing. I went to desk to let her know and she rolled her eyes and said oh it’s probably out and slammed my money on the counter, I said thank you and got no response. (This was the 2nd front desk staff that obviously hates there job) We were in a room at the end of the hall right next to the security door. It did not lock, you did not need a key to open, odd science there was a sign on the outside that said this door is locked for your safety. When I checked out the next morning the woman at the desk was the first kind welcoming staff I had dealt with. She was pleasant and smiled also was dressed as if she worked at the front of a hotel. Sadly I will not return to this hotel, I will be looking for another place to stay when I go up there for my...
