Bass Pro Shops in Myrtle Beach is my go-to stop before heading to the ocean. They take pride in offering the best selection of outdoor recreation products. The store is well-organized and clean and has plenty of parking. The associates are knowledgeable and can guide you to the products you're looking for. The shopping experience at this store is comfortable and enjoyable. It is fully ADA compliant, with nearby parking, easily accessible entrances, and clean restrooms that comply with all local regulations. I am very disappointed in this store's boat service department. In my experience, you will spend time, money, and gas, fixing problems created by their technicians or overlooked by their technicians but marked as checked and good to go. The service department lacks attention to detail. They do not return phone calls. Their work quality is substandard. I had my boat in for annual service, and part of the Marine Health check off list includes checking the motor mounts. Mine were checked off as ok. I paid for this service and trusted what the technician marked on my service report. However, I have found all 4 bolts very loose, one of which was finger loose. I also question if the proper mounting hardware was used when moving the motor from a manual jackplate to a hydraulic jackplate. The washers and nuts do not look like any of the type on their motors in inventory or what I see online. This could have led to a catastrophic failure on the water. Additionally their idea of mounting a console graph is to drill four holes in fiberglass, attach 4 bolts to a $2500 graph and press the graph flush and bolts into the holes with not one nut or washer holding the unit from the backside. Amateurish. Be forewarned, that service shop could be an accident waiting to happen.

Popped in to look for a beach wagon for our upcoming family camping trip. My wife found one that had looked to be on sale while I was pushing our two absolutely crazy toddler boys. When we went to the front to pay, my wife noticed that it rang up for more than the price sign. When asked the lady said that price was for "club members and if I wanted a credit card" I said I didn't and wanted to speak with someone who could correct the issue as the cashier clearly could not. That's when the cashier left instead of paging, which I thought was odd and went and got Melinda, apparently the manager or shift leader. She walked up. She was just a very unfriendly presence and really didn't seem to want to help or fix the situation at all. Without really saying much, she started writing some numbers down and mumbling something about online. At that point frustrated I turned around and asked a different employee to call a manager to the front. He was very nice about the situation and I just wanted him to understand why I was leaving without buying anything. Went home and purchased everything I needed on Amazon.

I called ahead forthe U.A. Men's Charged Bandit Trail Gortex Hiking Shoe. The shoe dept. guy said they only have 10.5 & 11.5 sizes. I take a 10-10.5 size normally with most mfrs.. Reviews said they ran small, as one person said. He was like me, and the 11 size fit the best. When I drove about 30 min. to NMB to see if either size would would be acceptable, the two "off" sizes were brought to me. I asked, while putting on one shoe, "how much are they?" He said that he had a special for me today: $74.??, which is 25% off their normal price of about $100. Then there was a long pause as he walked over to us. He, then, held up a card asking if we were familiar with their "Club?". We both said we were not interested. I decided to buy the shoes at the 11.5 size based on the 25% off price I was quoted. The shoe guy never communicated clearly and completely enough (the 25% off was tied to "Club" membership!), so that is all I was willing to pay for "too long" shoes. I hoped thicker sock would help. When the mgr's compromise was only 10% off, I lost it, and said "No, you will give me 15%". The mgr. then angrily grabbed the shoes back, and would not let me buy them for $5 dollars less than I was willing to pay! I later learned that he did me a favor. While I offer my apologies for getting mad, and raising my voice again (the shoe guy kept interrupting me!), the mgr, IMO, handled the situation all wrong. Coming from a customer relations in sales and mgt. background, IMO, the mgr. should have talked to us away from the busy cash registers, and separately! Angrily, the shoe guy said to another customer behind me something to the effect of "Butt Out!", when he said to both of us in a calm voice and with a smile: "Keep your voices down". The mgr. should have taken us aside! Now, I'll get what I want in the best fitting shoe eventually, and Bass Pro Shops gets some negative PR. It is a shame that a great retailer has to deal with a salesperson who did not communicate in a complete and comprehendable way with me, and an unwise mgr.. 9/30/20 UPDATE = I got 2 pair of higher quality running shoes online, both at lower prices than what the foolish manager wanted to charge me. They are size 11, and fit much better than the 11 1/2 size the manager would not let me buy! Oh, also, in case you believe in mask wearing inside stores, other "newest" negative reviews on Yelp agree with my wife and I, that mask wearing is not enforced for all employees...

I have purchased many items from this location and have had no problems with their products. The store is clean and well-kept, and every item I have purchased has performed up to my expectations. However, their customer service standards rival that of a 3rd world country. On more than one occasion, I have felt belittled or talked down to as if I was a child. The firearm department has quite a few employees who treat potential customers like stray dogs. An innocent inquisitive question is returned with a disdainful answer, or no answer at all. I apologize if I left my crystal ball at home when visiting your store, but many customers do not understand the intricate details of every single product that you sell. These employees act as if customers are a bother. I guess selling firearms makes you superior to everyone else that walks the Earth. One employee, Curtis, has been extremely smug and pompous every single time I have dealt with him. I shop at this store at least 2 to 3 times a month on my days off from work. I apologize that God made you a small man. However, that does not entitle you to treat customers like they are speaking a foreign language. Your arrogance and self-glorification will only cost your employer valued customers, and possibly you, your job, which you quite obviously take pride in. In the past couple of weeks, upon entering the store, if I see this man working the hunting department, I have left the store. I will not deal with this type of service, or shall I say, lack there of. Customers should be treated with courtesy, and should leave the store with a sense of excitement, having just purchased new merchandise. They should not leave empty-handed nor with the same amount of money in their bank account that they had upon entering the store. This absolutely comical and negligent approach to customer service is the only problem I have encountered at this store, but it is a problem severe enough to deter me from shopping at...

This was the absolute most disorganized and incompetent store I've ever seen. After looking for unfrozen bait for 10 minutes we were told they didn't sell it. Walked further down the aisle and there's a whole display. Next day we returned for hooks that locked. My husband asked where they were while I was on the bathroom...again he was told they don't carry them. I walked with him down the aisle with the unfrozen bait and there they were...3 options fully in-stock. The staff were more busy talking than doing their job. They only had 2 registers open and the lines far surpassed into the aisle behind us. 5 minutes later customer service started checking people out...by calling 1 person over at a time and only from the left line, and whomever came over when they yelled next was checked out. We were in the right line. I walked over to stand behind the person checking out at customer service and after waiting for a few minutes, an employee (that was not running the register) asked if I needed something...I said yes I'm waiting to check out, and she replied we're only taking from the front of line and to go back to a line until I was called...which made us go back to the end of the line... so we chose the left as it was going faster. Then they started calling from the right line. I understand I should have just waited in line and not tried to go to the customer service. However, when you have random employees scattered everywhere talking and joking, and only 2 registers open, and the line literally took 20 minutes to move 2 people...there's a problem. My mistake for stepping out of line, their mistake for being so incompetent as an overall store. We finally saw a 3rd register open...after 30+ minutes of this fiasco...and that was just our time in line, God only knows how long it was before we stepped in line initially. I will never return here, which is such a shame as we have spent hundreds of dollars here in...
