T.J. Maxx — Local services in North Olmsted

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!! 0/5 stars I USED TO LOVE TJ MAXX UNTIL I FIND OUT THEY DISCRIMINATE! Storytime: My friend & I go shopping & before we cash out we want to try on some of the clothes in our cart, (this is our first time going to the fitting room at Tjmax)… we see an employee at the front desk of the fitting rooms, we say “Hello!” She doesn’t even acknowledge us or say hello back, she ignores us and proceeds to tidy up some of the clothes on the rack by the back wall, as if we are not even standing there. Me and my friend assume that it’s a self serving fitting room, so we proceed and put our carts to the side, and start changing our clothes in the fitting room. In the midst of us changing I hear a random woman yelling at us that we are changing on the men’s side of the fitting room. Obviously we are embarrassed but how would we even know!! The employee that works in the fitting room area did not even acknowledge us let alone stop us from going to the men’s side of the changing room !!!! But wait there’s more!! I overhear the lady saying to the other employee (the fitting room employee), ever so gently might I add, “you need to to do xyz, even if they seem intimidating or look different” me and my friend wear hijabs (head scarves). I am not sure what looks so different about a woman wearing a scarf on their head. Have they never seen a nun?? Or any other Muslim woman wearing a scarf? And if so what makes it so intimidating???? But wait it gets worse, we get over that and make a laugh out of it to make light of the situation, and proceed to cash out, we apologize for the misunderstanding and all the cashiers go “yea yea we heard” so what I understood is they’re talking about the situation over their walkie talkies, because the fitting room and registers are on opposite sides of each other. So unprofessional and so unfortunate. Instead of THEM apologizing for their bad service and failure to acknowledge us AND failure to hold the fitting employee accountable AND failure to accommodate customers , they instead give us weird looks and discriminate against us and are talking behind our backs on their walkie talkies!!!! WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS...

Me and my mom came to this TJ maxx in North Olmsted Ohio and bought 4 items that day. It was 2 sweaters a little gray purse and a little gray wallet. A few days go by and I decided to return the purse and wallet because it was way to small for me to use. So my mother goes in today on January 11th 2017 and returns the purse but they refused to let her turn in the wallet. Now this is a problem because the employee doing the return said she can't take the wallet back because the label on the receipt said "men's accessory" which is very strange because the wallet I picked up was in women's section up front with all the other purses. The wallet is 12.99 and we are asking for credit back on her TJ maxx credit card at that. She is a TJ Maxx member and always shops there but because of this issue she is not happy with being a rewards/credit card member. We haven't gotten a solution because Dean the assistant manager didn't do anything after watching the whole dispute earlier today on January 11th 2017 around 1pm. He said he would have the store manager Alexa call me but how is that since he hung up on me without getting my phone number. This is horrible customer service and anywhere you go they ask for a receipt for ANY RETURNS....NOT THE TAGS!!!! It's not the customers responsibility to make sure the items are labeled correctly it's the employees. The prices are the same on receipt 12.99 and the purse didn't have a tag on it either but they took that no problem. This issue is not solved and I will make sure it gets corrected the right way.
