I agree with many posters here. Very Good and a tad bad. Yes prices have risen and yes .now some things are the same cost or even more than at a store, yet older. Some items are just a buck cheaper but old or maybe within use by date, but clearly stored improperly,( I assume before purchasd by the store) and are inedible . Returns via exchanges are very hard to do. It can't be opened , yet sometimes u have to open and smell or taste to know its for the compost or critters. I have thrown out way too much not barely discounted food there so Be careful or stick to non food items. There are a lot of people without cars or easy mobility, many on fixed or low for whom its the closest store and therefore shop here as its so close. You can if you are careful score some deals , but indeed prices have risen making many see its not worth minimal.savings for very old or compromised foodstuffs. I bet I've tossed 50 bucks I bet at least Its hit or miss. A cereal or item may be fine one time and same product tho in date , inedible another time. Yes too many employees in aisles. Sometimes its a steal and u feel tricked but not purposefully and other times its " wow got some great stuff at a discount". I have had no problem with staff friendly but read that another one or two had. I support local business and would like to still shop here but i do agree its gotten a bit extreme with the small discount for expired or unusable food that in some cases should be free and be fed to animals and skip the middleman as its termed and not sell at all. I want them to succeed and I want customers to not be and feel scammed or taken advantage of. Community is important and communication can build. Can the consumer help and influence a local biz? Maybe we can ! I am glad they are there! Maybe they will read reviews and consider . I really recommend them as a first stop for non food items and also selective groceries. The variety and amount of items within is pretty amazing for the smaller space. Its a fun stop for sure and you will see a lot you want and can use that you didn't put on a list. Wonderful for essential oils and lotions potions body care dental and lots of organic options in the edibles category. Always worth a trip. If u aren't close by, make sure u come with enuf money as u will see stuff u didn't expect and really need! They serve a need and maybe can fine tune the issues customers point out. Better to suggest ideas share experiences than to abandon a place as the local economy affects all.( Unless u were the folks who got harassed or yelled at as folks posted, I can see why u would not return!) I like to think that the staff had a bad day and did not mean to be uncordial, as far as the posters who were treated poorly and I like to give people places second chances, cause ya never know! I also now am a better buyer having learned and paid to. Sometimes people are not aware and appreciate feedback which helps them become a better business.. This is a local biz. So I want them to do well! I want shoppers to feel treated fairly and responded to with their valid requests and experiences honored and amended when fair...
Read moreGENERAL The store has slender aisles that can get pretty tight on the weekends and not everything is a bargain - but there are deals in almost every corner. Wider aisles and I'd give it 5 stars. There are two main sections are clothes/shoes & food and household supplies (soap, paper towels, cleaners etc).
DEALS I shop mainly on the food/household goods side. Look at the section behind the counter area for the biggest bargains on 'out-of-code' foods. That's retail-speak for past their 'sell-by' dates. But w/a very few exceptions this makes little difference in the quality of the products.
HELPFUL The employees are super helpful and once they know you, will often point out deals for products you buy. Angel, Bel, Donna and Christian have all been as kind and friendly as can be. But bring your own bags if you can. They often have boxes and paper bags, but 1x use plastics are usually not available in the Northampton area.
STEALS On a regular basis, they'll mark a big black X on some older out-of-code products and park a few boxes of them outside - for free! Yes, free for the taking. I've seen chips, sweets, cans of soup, pet food, and supplements (like Calm magnesium) for $0.00! Hence the 'Steals' part...
Read moreThey have incredible buys here on high end shoe brands. Got some ON sneakers for $79!!! (Normally $170). It's hit and miss of course, but when you find a good buy it's usually incredible. Lots of high end athletic and comfort shoes from Burkenstocks to Danskos, Vionics, and many more. They also have a large selection of healthfoods for rock bottom prices. I was abit disappointed they only let me try on the left shoe of the high end brands, and you couldn't get the mate until you got to the register. When your feet are 2 diff sizes, it kinda sucks not to be able to try both at the same time. They apparently have a lot of trouble with shop lifting, but sucks for those of us who are honest and...
