Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library and Museum — Attraction in Northampton

My brother and I visited the museum on November 2, 2024.

It's a small, one-room museum inside the Forbes Library. It takes a look at Coolidge's time as a state legislator, mayor, governor, VP, and finally as president. There are neat tidbits that you wouldn't think of (such as getting copies of Grace Coolidge's cookie recipe), and there are plenty of small artifacts and pictures, too.

This museum was very unlike the other presidential museums we've been to, largely because it is rather small. Admission is free, though, and the material presented at the museum is very nice. It is a very neat look at the 31st president's time. I do wish it went a little more into depth with Coolidge's presidency (I liked the examples of his writings that were presented, as well as the information about the police strike while he was governor), so I did desire to see more. Still, I liked what I saw, and I'm glad we made the trip. The Forbes Library is also beautiful -- it's a historic building with a large selection of books. If you love presidential sites (as I do), I will recommend visiting this one, but you will want to have more for your day as you can easily knock the museum out in just over an hour.

The gift shop's selection, located at the front desk, is small (they do have neat T-shirts with Coolidge's quote, though), but you can pick up postcards and the aforementioned cookie recipe within the museum. Parking on-site is ¢25 per hour. Note that the museum is not open as long as the...

The Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library and Museum provides a nice little foray in Northampton. There's heavy emphasis on 'little' - it is quite small and only takes about an hour to see in its entirety (and honestly, it can be done in less time than that). So, if you're someone who tries to see presidential sites, know that you will be spending less time at this one than at most. As it is located in the historic Forbes Library, admission is free. They do have some merchandise for sale, but there isn't a lot and I was hoping to get something besides a shirt that has the name 'Calvin Coolidge Presidential Library and Museum' on it. Walk in, look around. There is a portrait of a Calvinist. You know, good and well...buy a box of candy to eat later. Cigars rolled fresh near the house of Funk and Bass as demonstrated in words and music performed live by Wynton Marsalis near the Five College attended by Mrs George Bush.
