Once again, here I am back at von maur needing to make an exchange. Mostly my experience has been way less than par, I walk in with my son this time expecting the same crappy experience I have had with their sales staff in the past. I wait for the sales associate to finish with another customer and hand the two items to be returned to her. The first was no questions asked and I receive my gift card. The second, a tommy bahama shirt, that was way too big, and she held the shoulders like she was sipping tea. Pinkies up. A distasteful look then says, "um, you're returning this?" I'm thinking 'is she for real?' I say "Yes I'm returing it - it is too big" and think 'since when do I need an excuse to exchange something?' Then she asks is it worn? I said "my husband tried it on" "it says here it was purchased back in Nov." "We didn't spend the holidays with my family and they just sent our Christmas presents two days ago. Is there a problem?" "No." She says. Then why all the fuse. Why bother. Life is way too short to be this way. So instead of looking for cute things to buy I instead spend my time looking for a nice sales associate. I found a women named Mary in jewelry. She was so sweet with my son. I picked out some earrings and said "hold these. I'll be back." Then grabbed a clutch and a shirt from teens and came back. They are running an in-store 30% off promotion that they automatically apply. Items were full price but then they applied their in-store promotion automatically. I was not told that there were no exchanges or returns prior to purchasing. DO NOT buy anything there that you might need to return/exchange. They will not take it back. They also won't ship items to you or the store if they don't have your item in their store. They have lost a once loyal customer. It's a shame their corporate decided to change their policies. I forgot my reciept once and they mailed it to me, with a thank you note for shopping with them! The have great clearance racks and yesterday I bought a beautiful gown off the clearance rack- some of the beading was falling off. I asked if they had another- the sales lady said no but they would fix it for free and call me when its ready. Also, if you like an item and its not in your size they will order and ship to you free or call you when it comes in. The prices may sometimes be higher than other stores but the sevice makes it all worth it in the end.
