Less than 15 minutes ago, I had an incredibly underwhelming experience at this store. I came in at 5:51pm, 9 minutes before close, looking for dining room chairs. I walked in and there were two ladies near the front counter, one helping a gentleman with a baby cradled on his back, complete a transaction. No one greeted me, said hello, or uttered a word, which felt strange, but I brushed it off because it was so close to closing time.
I quickly walked through the store, commenting aloud about the nice things they had to my husband, who was on the phone, and walked back up to the front. I spoke to one of the women minding the store, who appeared strained to respond, and began to do a video call to show my husband chairs I thought might be an option. By now it's 5:55pm. As I turned around to ask a question, that same woman stated, "We're getting ready to close," turned and walked away. I said ok and stood there for about a minute, but it was clear that she was not interested in assisting me. I walked out at 5:58pm.
As a first time potential customer, this is not the customer service experience I expected. I felt it important to share my experience because customer service often feels like a lost art these days. As someone that works incredibly hard to provide my customers with the best experience possible, this type of treatment makes me sad, to put it simply. I'm perplexed by the lack of desire to make your current and potential customers feel appreciated and important.
A word of caution...be wary.
Response: Thank you for responding. I do appreciate it. I do recall a woman as well and if I'm not mistaken, she left the store leaving the gentleman at the counter in a red/orange t-shirt with a shaved/bald head.
In addition, while I appreciate the explanation and insight, my only issue was after that couple left, the woman who told me they were closing, stating that, turning heel and walking away. I have zero expectations that someone would stop assisting a customer abruptly, which again, would be poor customer service, but it would have been appreciated if she'd said something like, "I'm so sorry, we're closing in a few minutes, but we open again on x-date at x-time. Are you to come back when we can answer any questions you have?" That's the true nature of customer service, informative and inviting. I can understand if she were upset by the conversation she'd just had with the woman with cancer, but her abruptness and tone was...
Read moreLongtime shopper at this location, hadn’t been in a while. I seen a bench as I was about to leave and asked an associate if they could give me a measuring tape to measure my car. Just as I finished measuring, a woman came out asking me about the measuring tape. Stating that the other woman that gave it to me, was concerned that I was taking it. I hadn’t been out of the store longer than two minutes. She was apologetic, but it seemed very unprofessional to be treated this way when I asked borrow it for this reason. I didn’t end up getting the bench and I am completely disheartened about the...
