Off The Hook, is an absolute beautiful place to visit. Has a pool table and darts to play with. Not to mention it seemed to have a large variety of food and drinks. However, don’t let the beauty of the place deceive you. My friends and I (4 girls in total) were on a vacation from California staying for a week to visit a friend that recently got married. It was our last night before leaving and we hadn’t been to a bar yet. Each restaurant we had visited throughout the day, would recommend us a bar or attraction. We were definitely feeling a bar that night. Off The Hook was one of the many they’d recommend. So as any tourist we listened and went to the bar. We showed up pretty early 7:30pm or so. It was pretty dead inside. As we finished getting ready the anticipation and excitement built. It was our last night together and we wanted to end it well. We finally arrive and as shown in the video the place was super interesting and beautiful. We were satisfied. We immediately notice that we didn’t get greeted by the bartender or any of the staff but instead gave us some dirty looks and immediately asked for our ID’s in a very nasty tone. I get it we look young and definitely look like we’re tourist. We hand over our ID’s and continue to look at the drink menu. I try to spark a conversation with our bartender all while having her hands on her hips and tapping her foot and if she was too busy to help us. Mind you it’s Tuesday and the bar seems dead but we didn’t mind to stay since it was recommended to us and we had limited options. I ask her what’s the best drink, she points me towards the best drink on the menu and I’m feeling up to having something new, so I order it. As she’s making the drink I ask what kind of vodka she’s adding. She gave me a glare with no answer. Once she’s done making my drink she then rises the bottle of vodka that she added to show me. All throughout the making of the drink she gave nothing but nasty looks as if we were annoying her or a burden to be in the building. She then hands me my drink and I says “That will be 10 dollars. Cash or card.” While rolling her eyes I wanted to start a tap however it didn’t seem like she gave me an option and after her attitude we definitely didn’t want to stay for too long. I handed her my card and paid. Two more girls needed their order taken. Instead of asking the last two girls what they wanted to drink or eat. She goes on to say “There’s another bar you girls can go to instead.” That’s when we all just looked at each other and felt super unwelcome. Didn’t take us long after that to put our drinks down without even finishing them and walking out. We were all shook and upset. We even talked about it in the car as if it was just our imagination or if she was actually that rude. We did end up going to different place to still enjoy the rest of our night but definitely will not be returning here. I don’t recommend it unless you’re trying to feel like a burden in that...
Read moreMy sister is in town visiting and she wanted to go dancing tonight. I thought the best place to do that was Off The Hook. We arrived around 10pm and started dancing right away but we were the only two people on the dance floor. We were excited when two other women got on the dance floor with us and we tried to dance with them but they didn't like us near them so they reported us to the bouncer and we got KICKED OUT OF THE BAR for dancing with these two women. I'm so incredibly confused. We were sober, just trying to dance...apparently you aren't allowed to dance near others. I'm still horrified that I brought my sister to this bar tonight. So embarrassing, trying to show her a good time in my town, ended up being a disaster at that bar. I have never been kicked out of a pla ce before! We walked to Oak Habor Tavern and we were greeted with so much love and enthusiasm. Also many patrons at Oak Harbor Tavern had stories of getting kicked out from Off the Hook tonight as well. Off the Hook treated us so poorly tonight we will never be going back. I would like to file a complaint with the owner too. Your bouncers tonight were downright abusive how they manhandled us out for just dancing near two other women. Absolutely bizarre encounter....

Full blown sushi bar tucked away in the back.
Fish was top notch quality. “Fresh” isn’t exactly the right word to describe sushi, given the history of sushi and knowledge of which, but the veggies were crisp fresh and crunchy, the rice was awesome, nori was spot on, seafood was some of the best I’ve had at a sushi joint. This is a low volume high quality hole in the wall. I am very very very picky about my seafood, as I own/operate a commercial fishing vessel, but this was easily the best I’ve had in the Skagit/whatcom/island county region. The best taku I’ve ever had, uni was awesome, sake, toro, hamachi, spot on. The Wasabi wasnt your average green horseradish paste, Seafood of this quality is extremely rare to find, and this spot has earned a return customer, hands down. Beyond impressed
We went in for a cocktail simply because we hadn’t ever been to this place before, and were totally stumped and surprised by what we...
