First off I have been to this Home depot... ALOT. Usually my experiences are fine. But I recently (April 24th) placed an order for ~$4000 of decking material and this am currently (May 30th) Still waiting for half of my decking supplies! After placing the order I was told it would take 7-10 days to arrive and I would be contacted for delivery when it did, so I waited until day 10 before calling and asking the status. I was told the supplies had arrived on day 10. I was a little upset, but what can I do? I asked to schedule a delivery, and after having to wait until and then call back and finally get ahold of the ONE PERSON that can schedule a delivery I told her "any day any time as soon as possible" as I have a tenant that is basically always home. She told me the earliest she can do is a week from now which was ~May10. At this point I would have cut my losses and ordered from Lowes had I known this is only the beginning! She finally miraculously 'found' a open delivery spot two days later. I said great book it! The delivery guy comes and deliverers my pallet of 16' boards but NONE of the fasteners or end caps, also, 2 boards are broken. one completely in half. Also, the delivery guy drove the forklift into my chimney and ran over the boards in order to get himself unstuck. I have pictures of the whole Sh*tshow luckily nothing was damaged. But he sure left in a hurry! Luckily, I made him annotate the broken boards and missing fasteners and he did so reluctantly. That day I called and asked to have all the replacements sent and was assured they were... 5 days later, I call to check in... they were not! We have called almost everyday and have gotten sooooo much conflicting info, one day I call and they say " ya we have your fasteners!" the next day I go in to pick them up they say "no they still havnt been ordered" This has gone on too long! My backyard has been a construction zone for a month! I realize some of this has been the shippers fault, but home depot has promised to call me with updates constantly and I have NEVER received a call from them. They are so slow in the responses and not everyone can figure out how to look at when things are suppose to get here. I am so tired of "well I don't handle that you need to call back Thursday and talk to Susan". I just want my stuff I payed for a month...
Read moreSadly while we always try and support the local economy here on the Island the future of our purchases at the Oak Harbor HD store just won’t happen in the future. Horrible experience in our attempt to use HD services, while price was good from the start the staff struggled. In home visit for measurements and subsequent store visit to pay was challenging (2 stars at best). Should have stopped there, but we purchased and it got worse when the installer showed up. Nowhere close to what we signed up for, improper installation, sloppy work and cleanup along with damaged product.(not even one star). Ok, so now what? We called our CC company and got the charges put on hold. We then called to meet with Eric the Store mgr, who showed up at the appt late. While they eventually agreed to completely replace and offered a 500 dollar credit we declined. After such a bad experience and his incredibly condescending and honestly just plain dumb comments. Specifically his comment “we will get paid” after we decided to decline sealed our decision. Oh and yah our CC company agreed after photos and follow-up to completely credit back the charges.
Poorly trained staff, bad install work and a rude, unprofessional, arrogant and condescending mgr…We’re done with HD Oak Harbor, Wa.
For others, maybe buy some products there for your home needs to support local staff and economy. Run and hide from anything related to home services and management at this location.
One ⭐️ is it much in our book 🤦♂️
Ok, Follow up info. After posting our review HD reached out and we decided to discuss with them our poor experience. They addressed our issues straight up, no excuses and agreed the charges on our CC should have been and were reversed. Lessons learned and a sincere apology was given and accepted. We all have bad days, learn and move on who the next lesson. So for follow up, follow thru and sincere responses we will go with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‘s.
Follow up visit to the store soon as the management did ask we meet...
Read moreI like the employees at this location. Ive been there multiple times a week for the last three years. Many know by now that I won't hesitate to ask for help if I need it, but more or less know my way around. When they help, they help well. Sure there are the +6ft +50yr old men who work there and look and act as though they hate life for working there as long as they have without being considered for manager, but I just keep my distance from them. The managers. There are nice ones, don't get me wrong. Woman who was mgr in paint department. Good. Guy named Eric, wears glasses, bunch of 'oh crap what did I do' tattoos; not good. I've never had a home depot employee rub me worse. My fault for asking you for help. Dont come near me again. The credit cards. Let me make this clear. Your store will not close if your credit card numbers decrease. Your employment as a manager will not disintegrate either. Acting like predators and making your employees ask folks for credit cards all the time? It's gross. You can push back. Read your myapron sops. No I'm not an employee. I give you my money, and you give me what I paid for - shouldn't be: I give you my money, you ask if I want to become legally tied to the the company through debt by running a credit report and chipping off a couple points from my credit score. Your components aisle is trash. Organization, trash. You make Ace Hardware look like the Hagen of components. Might spend more, but holy crap will it be worth it. It's an okay store. Some things could be improved. Let folks cull out bad lumber. I dont approach employees with perfect lumber that has one chip. You get to cull 1% daily. I usually buy one or two items. Come on Eric. Seriously? You smell of a manager worried about his own job and not his employees, let alone...
