I recently had the pleasure of visiting Big Love Vinyl in Crossroads Gathering Place in Oak Island, North Carolina. Upon entering the building, your eyes will be drawn to the "Big Love Vinyl" sign across the way. I was impressed by the selection of both new and used records and found a few I had been looking for to include a sealed Brian Auger's Oblivion Express Closer to It! album from 1973. It's fun to wonder how long and far this album has traveled just to be opened for the first time and played by me 50 years after its release.
Many vendors have their own space in Crossroads Gathering Place and Big Love Vinyl is my favorite. Although it has a small footprint the space it does have is beautiful, clean, warm, and inviting without feeling cramped. I had the opportunity to speak with Doug, the face behind Big Love Vinyl. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable about music, but he is also incredibly friendly and approachable. He is passionate about his business, as evidenced by the carefully curated collection he has on display and by how organized it is.
Overall, I can't recommend Big Love Vinyl enough. If you're a music lover in search of your next vinyl treasure, do yourself a favor and pay Doug a visit. You won't be...
Read moreSo, I ran across Big Love Vinyl on a FB link. I was like sure why not and gave it a look and I can tell you I liked what I saw. I live in Tucson AZ and the pickings are slim to say the least so any chance for some vinyl deals are very welcome. I have made some purchases and tend to be a regular customer(when the wallet allows lol). Not a huge place, but they get some good stuff in. Prices are reasonable, interacting with them is great and shipping is very reasonable. They also do a laid back live show every now and then and it's nice to kick back watch whats for sale and relax with the guys(cheers!). So yes between me and Vionel Richie( check the site out you will get what I mean) we can highly recommend Big Love Vinyl! p.s. the view from their...
Read moreBig Love Vinyl is a great record store, and owner Doug Ausbury is the best. We vacation at Holden Beach most summers, and I always look forward to my annual visit to the store on Oak Island. I have made three or more major purchases (both at the store and online) from Doug, and he does not disappoint. He goes out of his way to make certain his customers are completely satisfied. One summer several years ago (before the current store opened on Oak Island) we went to his satellite store at Waterway Music, but the store wasn't open like it should have been. I contacted Doug, and he even was willing to meet me and bring the records that I wanted. I have purchased over 40 records from BLV, and each was VG+ to NM, never a bad record. Thanks...
