PLEASE READ. Beware of this company at all costs. Truthfully the biggest sense of disappointment and unprofessionalism that I have encountered with a company. The positives. Our oceanfront home was beautiful and the memories made there will be everlasting. The negatives. There were some pretty unsettling issues with the home, including dirtiness and untidiness upon entering, a broken bedroom window that, when it rained, damaged electronic devices to which the management company responded that “You are at the beach, you should be prepared for things like to happen,” a broken door that, even when maintenance was dispatched, still was not resolved, broken lounge chairs, torn couch, broken cabinets in kitchen, and just an overall sense of disarray. The truly disappointing part of this story comes when reaching out to the company after our stay. At checkout, I inquired that I wanted to bring someone up to speed about our experience and concerns. I was provided with an email address to which I promptly sent an email that day. That was a month ago, several follow up emails were sent, and there has been no attempt from Sunset to rectify this situation. I am all about giving folks the opportunity to talk through things, make amends, and favorably direct my future. Sunset Properties is not the place where you want to invest your hard earned money into a rental that falls so short of the “luxury” they tout about and a company that has significant integrity issues. Please folks, consider Sloan Realty or a private owner before entrusting Sunset Properties with your vacationing needs. It is beyond unsettling that during a time of global crisis and the desires of folks to spend money on vacationing and local business that a firm cannot stand behind their name. Read moreOur family stayed at a Sunset Properties beach rental at Ocean Isle Beach for a week in June 2024. Upon entry we noticed the floors were dirty in the kitchen, and bedrooms. The carpeted steps also looked as if they haven't been vacuumed in a long time. Upon further inspection, the TV would not turn on and the pool light did not work. We immediately called the Sunset Properties Ocean Isle office and informed them of the condition of the beach house. Sunset Properties office staff sent the same cleaning crew back out to clean the floors.
When the cleaning crew of five girls arrived at our front door, our family was met with rude attitudes, profanity and aggressive behavior. One of the cleaning girls stated, why did y'all call the office and tell them the floors weren't clean. We are professionals. One of the other girls said we were being picky. This is the attitude that the cleaning crew spoke to us with. Our beach house rental had children and elderly family members present who witnessed this unbelievable behavior from the cleaning crew. We have been coming to OIB for 45+ years and have never been treated this way. We called the Sunset Properties Ocean Isle Beach office and notified them of the rude and disrespectful treatment we received from their cleaning crew. The Sunset Properties office staff said they were sorry.
This certainly isn’t the treatment you would expect when you rent $5,500+ a week rental from Sunset Properties at Ocean Isle beach. Additionally, all renters pay a very expensive cleaning fee, so there never should be a question about cleanliness.

Read moreWe recently had a week long stay at a Sunset Property on Ocean Isle. The management company is high disorganized, condescending and passive aggressive.
They lied to multiple members of our party over the phone prior to checking in and then acted incredibly defensive after being confronted in person at their office. Our home was “not ready” due to a door lock that needed fixed. The Sunset employees had no idea when we would get into the property and offered no solutions to expedite.
We drove 10 hours with small children and they couldn’t have cared any less. We decided to visit the property to inspect it ourselves only to find the door was working properly and was fixed hours prior. There was zero apology or responsibility taken for the miscommunication and inconvenience.
The home itself was NOT CLEANED AT ALL. If you are reading this I would encourage view the detailed photos of the disgusting grime and dirt we were greeted with upon getting into the home. It was also falling apart and in need of dire maintenance across the entire property.
Please do yourself a favor and book through one of the many other property management companies on the island. Sunset Properties will do their best to spin the situation but in the end, we paid a good deal of money for a very poor experience all around. I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Update: I’d like to note the women at the desk told 3 different people in our party checkin could start anywhere after 1:30pm. Then denied ever saying it when we met in person.
