Ahoy, fellow adventurers! đŽââ ïžđ During my recent visit to the historic Ocracoke Island, home to the legendary pirate Blackbeard, I discovered a true culinary treasure: Plum Point Kitchen, located inside the 1718 Brewery.
Plum Point Kitchen is a scratch kitchen that takes pride in its craft, chopping fresh veggies and preparing everything in-house. Their Thursday steak nights feature hand-cut ribeyes that are simply phenomenal. The house special is a must-try: a giant pretzel with a deluxe version topped with crab meat and cheese. Their world-class smoker slow-cooks a variety of meats, delivering barbecue, ribs, and chicken wings that are the peak of perfection. The salad was so crisp and fresh, it was hard to believe it wasn't straight out of the garden!
Parking is plentiful, and youâll find counter service with the food counter on the left and the brewery on the right. They offer both indoor seating and a dog-friendly, covered patio area for outdoor dining.
Donât miss out on the homemade desserts from local bakers in the nearby village of Ocracoke; the key lime pie is fantastically phenomenal! And for those who love to take home a souvenir, their logo is great, and they have some excellent merch in the back.
Plum Point Kitchen is not just a restaurant; itâs an experience that combines the rich pirate history of Ocracoke Island with world-class cuisine. Bon appĂ©tit and enjoy your adventure! âđœïž #PlumPointKitchen #1718Brewery #OcracokeIsland #OuterBanks #PirateLore #Blackbeard #ScratchKitchen #NauticalDining #BarbecuePerfection...

I had the Hawaiian pork tacos, and they were really delicious. You could tell they cooked something and didn't reheat something that came from US Food. My wife had the crab stuff pretzel, which I have to say is a delicacy. I cannot think of a more perfect accompaniment to the enjoyable and true to form craft beers. This is what you get when people are committed to doing what they do well. Yes, it is walk up service with no table servers, but worth it. We didn't eat anywhere else on the island, as our stay was too short. And we chose the brewery and Plumb Point because they were open in low season and I do have a liking for good brew pubs. But boy howdy, if I ever get back to Ocracoke, I'll be making at least...
Read moreI guess I will have to go against the grain here. To start things off is I wish I would have taken pictures. We walk up to order and my wife decides to order one of the "specials". It was a twice baked potato. She asked how big it was and the lady at the counter simple said... "like a normal potato ". Now I don't know about most people but I have seen many different size potatoes. One would assume for $5 it would be a decent size. Knowing what I know now, ocracoke has VERY small potatoes. It was about the size of what most restaurants call a "potato skin" I ended up having the fish tacos. They were "ok". They really lacked flavor and the sauce was pretty watery. And for this place being an island the the seafood would be a little bit more reasonable. But then again, ocracoke is becoming a tourist trap. So for the portion size, price, and the condescending attitude of the cashier, I will...
