I had an absolutely outrageous experience at ShopRite today, and I feel compelled to warn others.
I went to buy soda and headed to the self-checkout. A staff member told me to go to Register 5 instead. I followed their instructions, but when they scanned the items, there was no discount, even though the shelf clearly said 4 for $5.
When I told them, they claimed there was no such promotion. I ran back to the shelf to take a photo of the price label ā but magically, the label had disappeared. When I returned, the cashier said she couldnāt help and called her supervisor.
That supervisor then had the audacity to tell me, āThis isnāt Costco. Weāre not a wholesale store. The deal is limited to four items, but you need to come back on different visits to get that price each time.ā
Seriously? So Iām supposed to come into the store four different times just to get the deal you advertised? Thatās absolutely deceptive ā cheating customers on purpose. And when I asked what the point was of even offering the promotion, he shrugged and said, āI donāt know, itās just the system.ā
Honestly, the entire situation felt manipulative, and I couldnāt shake the feeling that I was being targeted. The way they treated me ā the coldness, the dismissal, and the arrogance ā makes me wonder if there was a racial bias behind it. It felt like they had no intention of treating me fairly from the beginning.
It was like a setup: someone lured me to a different register, the discount didnāt apply, and suddenly the price label vanished ā how convenient.
I will never return to this ShopRite again, and I urge others to think twice before shopping there. If this is how they treat paying customers, especially minorities, itās unacceptable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere were very good reviews of this ShopRite when it first opened, so I could not wait to visit this particular ShopRite. The look of the supermarket is amazing - the individual/ team responsible for the layout and design of the supermarket did an awesome job. However, the quality of the produce is the same as your standard ShopRite which is disappointing; average at best.
This ShopRite does not carry a lot of the natural food items like the ShopRite of Parlin, NJ which in my opinion has one of the best natural food sections amongst my local ShopRite supermarkets.
Also, I must say their meat selection when it comes to red meats is great. I come to this particular ShopRite to purchase my pork chops as well as beef cubes. However, they can expand their options when it comes to their ground turkey and chicken selection which I find almost nonexistent.
Additionally, I did not have a good experience with the primary butcher the last time I wanted my pork shoulder deboned. He had an attitude, which I never experienced before even when he worked at the previous ShopRite of Old Bridge that is now closed. I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps, he was having a bad day but this is not a reason to be rude to customers.
However, this ShopRite gets brownie points for having fresh coffee beans. The aroma when you walk past this section is unmatched. Overall, I would rate this ShopRite 3 stars, but bumped up my rating because of the pleasant customer service of their associates and the decor of the store. Oh yeah, and it is open 24/7, you cannot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis ShopRite is awesome. Beautiful layout, fresh produce, seafood and meat options. Iām definitely coming back for the coffee selection. The fresh coffee beans smelled amazing throughout the area. Their Sinfully Yours cheesecake is literally the best cheesecake weāve ever tried and itās only $8.99. The associates are wonderful! So friendly and knowledgeable. While shopping I heard one of the leaders explaining to two associates the differences of keeping Kosher and the certification for the store etc Having worked in the Kosher before, I was extremely impressed by his knowledge.
The aisles are convenient and product is very easy to access. The only downside of our experience were the other CUSTOMERS. For example, one held up an entire line for about 40 min (maybe more ā analyzing every single item on her receipt. With no consideration for anyone behind her. The other, putting her purse at the end of the belt, when I handed it to her, thinking she left it behind(I would panic) she is annoyed because she blocked the aisle herself so she can do multiple transactions. Others, treating friendly associates like theyāre less than human. Iām sorry, youāre in a fancy shoprite, donāt be mean, youāre not royalty. Will we be back, absolutely. That cheesecake is worth dealing with humanity. Thank you and great...
