Turning Point Old Bridge — Restaurant in Old Bridge Township

Update 2- wanted to give this spot a second shot.

Waitress during this visit was excellent. Welcoming, on top of our orders, and friendly.

Food: I learned the secret. Don’t order poached eggs. My meal was actually very tasty this time around. I do want to just mention though that my brother did order the poached eggs. They were overcooked and came with tons of water in the dish. It’s just a place where the cooks don’t know how to make them so I wouldn’t bother. Also, not pictured was the bacon my brother ordered and we tried sharing. Well the bacon was like trying to chew through a brick. The bacon was cooked well past the point of being nice and crispy. I tried taking one bite and when I found it impossible to break a piece off with my teeth or cutting with a knife I didn’t even bother further with it. Certainly not something I would order from there either.

Meal: Seaside Toast Thick multigrain toast topped with smashed Hass avocados, whole snow crab, pickled onion, lemon zest & everything bagel seasoning.  Served with 2 eggs your way & citrus dressed mixed greens

First update:

This was my first time at Turning Point in Old Bridge.

I had the following meal. I found the hollandaise sauce extra salty and the poached eggs were overcooked. It was close to hard boiled.

Iced drinks: only one size drink is offered. If you don’t ask for less ice you get minimal sips of the drink and the rest is ice. I just felt it was overpriced ($6.50) for the amount of drink I received. I should have asked for crispy bacon (that was on me so it came out chewy)

Service: Was ok. Took awhile to get our first drink of gourmet coffees. Would have been nice to have the server check in during the meal if we needed anything additional. Only time we got was when our food was brought to the table. Again, I think it’s because of how busy the location was that maybe the staff was overwhelmed.

Upon arrival at 2:30 PM, our waitress took our drink order, informing us that lemonade, sodas, and iced tea were unavailable due to the establishment's impending closure. We expressed our disappointment, as we would not have sat down had we known. Our waitress presented us with a water canister containing a film of water stains and floating particles. After overhearing our concerns, she replaced it with another canister, which, although lacking floaters, appeared equally unclean. When taking our order, she provided silverware with an unidentifiable film, prompting my friend to request plastic utensils. The waitress's demeanor became increasingly rude, and our food arrived promptly. However, the turkey Cuban sandwich featured dry bread with minimal turkey, while the potato squares were undercooked and inedible. As we discussed our disappointment in amongst ourselves , switching between English and Spanish which is common for us, our waitress overheard and became agitated, offering to fetch the manager while stating she understood our complaints due to her own Hispanic heritage she was loud and rude. She then instantly departed, leaving us to settle the bill and neither her or the manager ever came out. We left the payment and tip on the table and left. 30 mins later we all felt sick 🤢 to our stomach’s unsure if it was from the food or service but I will never go back or refer anyone to ever go there. We have gone to other Turning Point restaurants and enjoyed them all!! This is our second time at this location and definitely our last.Our first time everything was great especially the service!! Well today we came for breakfast and we were seated and we waited 15 min or more before I had to go and see if someone was waiting on us!! Someone came and took our order of course we had the cinnamon rolls so yummy!! Well we gave our breakfast order and we ordered the combo and I NEVER eat waffles so I asked the server to please substitute the pancakes with the protein pancakes I have no problem with the upcharge!! Well about 40 minutes later the food comes out and I said I ordered the protein pancake! She rudely SAID NO YOU DIDN'T YOU ORDERED THE PROTEIN WAFFLE!! AGAIN I SAID I DON'T EAT WAFFLES!! VERY RUDELY SHE SAID FINE I'LL GET THEM TO MAKE YOU PROTEIN PANCAKES!! Well no less then 30 seconds she comes back with the pancakes!!
