The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill - Old Bridge, NJ — Restaurant in Old Bridge Township

First the GOOD: The place is brand new and just opened up. Everything is clean, and the atmosphere and decor is nice. Plenty of seating for having a nice dining experience. The food is tasty and was freshly prepared. If you aren’t super hungry and have a couple of hours…… this might be a good choice.

The BAD: Speed of service. I waited 30 minutes for my food which was a take out meal. The place had a steady flow of customers but was NOT packed. During my wait, not once did anyone ask to see what my order # was or inquire why I was standing around for so long. After about 20 minutes someone finally asked if I I had a drink with my order, and then finally gave me a cup. They could have and should have offered the cup earlier so that I could at least grab my drink. The amount of time it took them I could’ve flown back and forth to Greece got a chicken to lay an egg, raised said egg into the chicken that would eventually be on my plate in less time than it took them to complete my order. Why have so many people behind the counter, and not enough people in the kitchen to crank out the orders 🙄.

The MEDIOCRE: The food is good, although the value for the feta fries seems is a bit steep. The portion on my take out was very small and not worth the money I spent on the fries. The souvlaki platter was tasty, but I’ll stick to the gyro next time, better price point.

Overall, I hope to visit these guys again. However, they need to IMPROVE on speed and service. They had about 6-7 people all clustered and scrambling behind the counter, very few people smiled or greeted customers. When I finally got my order, the girl didn’t even say thank you come again. What a great experience!! We popped in, unplanned and with nothing but a quick glance at other Google reviews to pick up a small catering spread for a very small gathering. We were greeted immediately by a friendly staff member at the counter, and within minutes of our inquiry about our specific needs (providing dinner for a small dinner party of 4) the Greek chef was out from the kitchen and speaking to us, walking us through the menu, providing us with all our options, and excitedly explaining what would be best for our particular gathering. He personalized the spread to accommodate what we like most, and assured us it would be perfect - And it was! Fresh ingredients, flavorful, and authentic Greek food, made by a passionate chef and served by a dedicated staff! What could be better! 😊 While waiting for the food, the owner came out and chatted with us about their story, having opened recently, and asking if there was anything else they could do to improve our experience. We couldn’t think of a thing! It was a great experience overall. We will absolutely be back, both for future catering, but also for great, Greek food on the go for those busy week nights, and to dine in their cool, immaculate, well appointed space (which is BYO that they’ll serve and provide glassware for 👌🏼)!
