I would give zero stars if I could, but at this location only. I like hf as a company as I'm an itc member and shop at their other locations very often. There was a planer that was on sale and the Westside Oly store was the only one close to me that still had it in stock. I rushed over there and grabbed the last one along with several other items. The cashier scanned the planer and then a "coupon" (was an itc sale) and told me that he got me a FREE 2 yr replacement plan. Immediately my suspicion rose and when I heard my total it was confirmed. I was charged 14.99 for the replacement plan. I told him I did not want to pay for a replacement plan. He began to argue with me, telling me that it "pretty much evens out after the ITC discount"I then told him that I did not come here to even out I came here because it was on sale and therefore cheaper. He said that it wasn't a big deal and he was doing me a favor. I've worked at home Depot and several other retail stores to know that you are required a number of extended warranties, memberships, replacement plans, etc for the week month quarter, whatever their time frame is. I told him I wanted to return it then and he said he couldn't and he called his manager over. The manager proceeded to tell me that he was just trying to do me a favor and it was just $15. It's not about the $15, it's about the principle that he didn't ask me if I wanted a replacement plan he charged me for it without my permission and then refuse to give it back. As did the manager. After several minutes of arguing over the situation, the manager refused me a refund! I turned around to head for the door and told the manager that he should inform his employees to ask their customer if they want to spend their money instead of stealing it from them and then trying to hide it. The manager replied, "I'll look into it" and again to me right before I walked out the door, "I tried to help you sir" this is by far the absolute worst retail experience I've had in my life. Both as a loyal returning customer and a paying member for over 10 years. I'm absolutely disgusted and I warn anybody that goes into that store to check your receipts because that manager just cares about his numbers, not his customers. I will never go back to that store again, sorry for the long review, I just wanted to...
Read moreI will first say that, in my experience, almost every harbor freight I’ve ever been to, has been very clean, well organized, and run very efficiently. This store is no different. I come in here almost once a week with my two year-old boy he loves Playing around In the store and pushing the cart. My wife and I just purchased our first home, and ever since then we have spontaneously needed a lot of tools. Harbor freight has allowed me to build up a respectable arsenal of tools. If you know what you’re doing, you know what items to stay away from and what items to jump on.
The sales manager and general manager run the store very, very well. It is always in immaculate shape. By this point, they know me pretty well, and I brought in multiple tools that I’ve wanted to return or were defective and they have 100% of the time made the situation right.
Yes, the vast majority of tools are from China. If you disagree with buying foreign products, you shouldn’t be shopping here in the first place, that has nothing to do with the staff Or the customer service level of this store. I imagine if you’re a jerk or treat the staff poorly, they are less inclined to help you—that’s just the way...
Read moreHonestly don't know how to handle what I saw today. A manager heavily berating a cashier for asking for change for her drawer. She turned to him and asked for ones and he berated her over and over saying that she wasn't telling him what she needed. Surprised he thought I wouldn't say something about it. Edit: she had to take a break in the middle of the transaction he was being so mean and terrible to her and then he lied to her replacement and tried to blame her absence on her behavior. It was shocking. I don't have to go to harbor freight there are other options close by. Work on your management teams professionalism.
Following up: I changed the review from 1 star to 3 because a few days later the manager followed up and apologized when I complained to the corporate. The store agreed to work with the manager and employee to support a more professional relationship.
I however did not follow up. I can move this rating to a 5 if I get a response here from management detailing how the followup went in a...
