We took the kids for memorable Hibachi dinner in Olympia, Washington! #hibachi #japanese #japanesefood #dinner #restraunt #foodie #foodtok #foodreview #olympia #washington #washingtoncheck

I reserved a space for 4 so we could take our young boys out for a memorable dinner for a milestone birthday in our family. I called and made sure to emphasize it was for a birthday. When we showed up they had our reservation listed on a piece of paper along with “birthday” written next to it and the hostess even underlined it before she gave us our menus. The food was good and the preparation was captivating for two little boys of 7 & 9 years old, but it was the day before Valentine’s Day and the chef asked the couple on each end of the hibachi if they were couples and if they were there celebrating Valentine’s Day early. He didn’t speak with our family other than to confirm our order. As we ate various team members came out and sang happy birthday three different times, but when our dinner was over the server brought us the check and said, “have a good night”, I was still unsure if they were going to come over to sing, so I hesitated to say anything and then she walked away to get drinks for the next group so we left. While the dinner and presentation were good, the service was lacking and it’s a rare instance of leaving the restaurant feeling down instead of having had fun. This might be a good place to go to celebrate birthdays - for some it clearly was, but they definitely missed with ours.

My wife and I came here tonight since we have heard good things and we figured we would try it out. We got the hibachi for two which was NY strip steak and prawns. Per the menu you get salad, soup, a prawn appetizer, and a scoop of ice cream each. The soup and salad were normal and what they serve at most hibachi places. The salad does have a white dressing instead of your traditional ginger dressing. They tasted okay, very normal for what they were. Now with the main course the food was very bland. Steak has zero taste. Rice has zero taste. The prawns were decent. We never got the supposed appetizer of prawns. The one scoop of ice cream you get to choose between chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry. I figured they would have like green tea or something more authentic to the hibachi theme. The ice cream was nothing remarkable either. Our server stood at the bar most of the time and watched tiktoks on blast. Normally I would not mind being left alone but his phone was so loud it was pretty unprofessional. As you can see we spent 100.00 and that food was not worth that at all. Do not intend on revisiting this establishment. As soon as we both got home we both had the runs. Not the greatest experience.

My husband and I came in for lunch, we were greeted by a young lady hostess who was very pleasant and professional. She sat us at the bar by our request. The bartender was a tall gentleman with a beard, he was also very pleasant and professional. We ordered drinks, three appetizers and a lunch entree. We had one or two sips and the drinks were great, we began conversing at the bar as we waited for our food. In our conversation we began to notice some yelling (not elevated talking but yelling) from a short middle aged man in the middle of the restaurant amidst tables and guests. It was loud and went on long enough that we stopped talking and looked over to see what was going on. At first it seemed like an irate customer going off on the staff over something. He followed the hostess from the restaurant to the front berating her her the whole way. This continued for at least a few minutes then we noticed he walked into the kitchen. He came back out about five or so minutes later, and again walked to the front where the young lady hostess was and began yelling at her once more. Not talking loudly, he was straight up yelling at her. This went on for another couple minutes, he then he went back into the kitchen. I asked the bartender who he was and was told this man is the chef or manager. I was mortified. I went to ask the young lady if she was ok and she tried really hard to hold it together but then began to cry. I saw the manger come out to see what was going on and I asked him if I could talk to him. He came over and I told him everyone in the restaurant saw and heard what he did and it was deplorable the way he was treating his staff. He tried apologizing briefly but very quickly walked away and back into the kitchen. We canceled our order, the bartender was very kind and understanding, he apologized about what had just happened. The behavior I witnessed from the leadership at this establishment was abusive and disgusting. A grown man screaming at a teenage girl for almost 10 minutes straight is insane. He had no regard for any of the guests that were dining in the restaurant and obviously even less for the people working on his team. I am astounded that he is in any supervisory role at all, if this man worked for me I wouldn’t tolerate his behavior from a dishwasher. I am very concerned for the young lady that was working and I truly hope she’s ok because even being a third party to that incident it was traumatic. I have never seen anything like this in all my years, I certainly hope something will be done about this man. The work environment there isn’t safe and is beyond degrading for anyone working there. I will absolutely refuse to ever go to this restaurant again if this manager is still employed there and will tell anyone I can to...

Let me start off by saying, the staff is actually pretty kind. What I didn't care for was what most people may not even notice. The Manager constantly barking at his employees was really not okay. They are obviously micromanaged. I understand that if you've got to correct bad employee habits. But, if you're gonna be in the front of the house, Maybe try to smile and treat people as your guests giving a positive atmosphere. I've Managed before as many others may have as well. Customers want positive vibes. The atmosphere I endured was very tense. Now the main reasoning for my 2 stars, FOOD POISONING!! We had a party of 10 and we ALL got sick. By the time, we got home everyone was fighting for the restroom. We figured it to be the food. But thought that would be the end of it. Boy was I wrong. I got the surf and turf. It was delicious until I woke up this morning at 5am to run to the bathroom only to treat it as my new home. Yes people, I now live in my Bathroom where it has been a combination of sitting on my new throne to curling up on the floor. Winning! I love this for me. (This is sarcasm people.) This is how I get to spend my day. Had to call out of work. Now, I'm losing money and letting my team down. Not something I like to do. I can actually hear my husband in the other restroom now as we get to have side by side prison cells and I heard one of my kids throwing up in the other room. Not how I planned to spend my new year. I've been to the Mt. Fuji Japanese Steak House many times. Never had this issue. Thought this would be the same. Maybe the meat sat out too long. Maybe this is why the Manager micromanages. However, with a closely as he watches them, this would have not gone unnoticed. I hope this review helps someone. Most people make reviews directly after the leave and usually the only reviews you read are good experiences. It's an exciting experience for those who don't usually go to these types of steakhouses. So it's understandable that they enjoyed the experience. But, most people who don't have a good experience don't usually write anything. They just don't go back. I will not be going back and neither will my family. I also do not care for the 18% enforced Gratuity and realizing that I tipped another 15% for a total of 32%. Perhaps I missed this. Don't recall seeing this on the menu as most restaurants will just tell you up front. Not to say he didn't deserve it. But,...

IF I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE I WOULD! After reading the reviews I was on the fence to go. But I wanted to give it a chance. HORRIBLE. First off they barely speak when you come in the store, they have the table super full to where on the corner me and another lady was extremely close. We barely had gotten a chance to look over the menu and felt super rushed, the waiter didn't even allow us to ask questions. He brought out HOT soup and was spilling it!! The cook came out the same time our salads did, the salad was horrible! The cook was calling out our orders and said the wrong thing for the couple next to us and they corrected it. The amount of rice we received was NOT WORTH THE MONEY! It was literally the size of my hand. He gave everyone shrimp and skipped us even though we ordered shrimp and chicken(and when he first started he read us what we were getting so there's no excuse), at this point I was super annoyed and told the waiter he said he was going to get more shrimp at that moment I said just get enough for my wife. WE NEVER GOT A DRINK REFILL THE ENTIRE TIME AND OUR CUPS WERE EMPTY WHILE EATING!! My bill was wrong and he seemed bothered by it, but i was not paying for 2 chicken and shrimp dinners that we didn't get especially with the price we were paying. He brought back a new bill and you guessed it STILL WRONG! Some of the people got ice cream and when speaking with the lady next to me she said she didn't want to add fuel to the fire but we were suppose to get free ice cream and were never offered! Customer service was an all time 0 in my book! The shrimp sauce barely had flavor. They are more concerned with getting as many people seated to get more money vs. customer service.

We are from the south and recently moved here, the Japanese steakhouses back home are WAY better and you get WAY more for the same price. This place is ridiculous especially with portions...
