Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Olympia

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. After this last weekend of going to Outback, I am totally dumbfounded. What I had was not "food". It was garbage. The worst part is that they could literally care less. $85 for unchewable steak, cheese in my iced tea, inedible sides, poor service and a slight case of food poisoning... that's how you get a one star review and me never returning! The response from ownership was ho-hum (uncaring). I even reached out to corporate (haven eaten a years salary in Outback probably the last few years), and they forwarded me to an owner who offered gift cards. I feel bad that a couple of cows died for my meal because it went in the garbage!

We ordered our very normal order for curbside, since we no longer live in Oly: 2 steaks, 4 sides, 2 iced teas. Steaks- Center cut -tough, rubbery, to the point where I could not eat it with silverware Ribeye- Also tough and rubbery and full of fat (about 50% fat). Both totally inedible. Better steaks found in the clearance meat section of the discount grocery. Salty, salty, salty. Sides: Mac and cheese was old, greasy, flavorless and cold. Side garden salad- the best part of the meal! Mashed potatoes- cold, super salty. Aussie Fries- Hard, cold and smallest portion of fries I have ever seen-- inedible. Iced teas- Not much ice, so not really cold, AND these people must have grabbed the lemon with cheese hands from the salad. I had cheese in my iced tea. Which was highly unpleasant since I was driving and driving my tea and slurped up a nice big shed of cheese in my tea. Its such a jerk move cross contaminating like that. Make me wonder what else was contaminated (oh boy, did I find out!). Bread: they did not give us any, so who knows! Service- Curbside was closed without anyone saying anything. Walked in main door to get order. Could not find an employee. Found an employee finally (probably the only person in the front of house) and got my order, which had been sitting at the bar getting cold. Had to get proper sized container for steak because they put my steak in a salad container. Had to also grab straws because they were not in the bag. (what did I even tip for?) Food poisoning- we tried to eat what we could (due to insane hunger), but we threw out 98 percent of our meal. About three hours later, neither one us were feeling well. Luckily, we were home and near a toilet. Stomach cramps and general unwell feeling most of the evening and into the next day. I told the owner about this. Response from corporate/owners- I contacted corporate that afternoon. Corporate forwarded my email to ownership. Ownership gave me the standard response and offered gift cards. Refused refund and did not reply to further emails. I can 100 percent say that I do not recommend Outback to anyone. They used to be such a chill and fun place to go and curbside was not an issue until 2019 But, now, with completely inedible food, take your money to Anthony's or anywhere else (you might even spend less). I would hesitate to say you would even get a better steak at a pub or bar, but you know what, Outback is done so that may very well be true. I really hope they close this location. After spending $85 with tip, I am royally not happy that they back-slided so badly in service and food (they were doing so well for a whole minute). I had the steak and shrimp,with a side salad and a bloody mary.I was with 3 others.One of the others also ordered shrimp.The server was a little different kind of funny.She asked very seriously how many olives I wanted with my virgin marry.I said we'll I guess 132.She smirked and wrote something on her tablet.We finished the order.about 20 min later I got my virgin marry.Pretty sure it was tomato juice,with a salted rim .She had not asked if I wanted salt but ok I did.But I got 1 olive , nothing more.But we got bread it was good! About 30 min later , and I was starving here comes the food.A different person.He promptly put the plates down like he was sure where the food should be placed never said anything.We exchanged plates.Ok now I'm so hungry.Iwent for a bite of broccoli cold ! Under room temp cold . I ate a whole shrimp ex the tale blaaat! Almost raw but I didn't notice because it was so heavily seasond.Yuk uhg groce. I began on the steak also cold , I could feal the slick oil build up in my mouth.So terrible. Inside was more rare than the med I had orderd.Again covered heavily with seasoning.I was so hungry so I ate the steak.Someone finally came back.I had to let the server know the food was cold and undercooked.She said sorry and left.3 of us had undercooked shrimp,the other had salad and undercooked steak.Suddenly a different man shows up here.Says what's your problem?I showed him the shrimp clear inside .That the food was cold and undercooked.He Says do you want me to take it away?We'll no I was hungry So I ate what I could.But no way raw shrimp.I advised him I could get very sick from consuming the 1 raw shrimp.He said I will take care of it and left.About 10 more minutes later we get the bill 152 and some change.Im thinking what was he going to take care of?I'm now upset! I got up to look for him I found him.I said a you told me this was going to be taken care of.He said oh yeah She gave you that by mistake.I must be stupid It seemed as he was comping the entire meal.I went back to the table I told the group it's been taken care of.We started to leave.It then comes quickly back blocking g our exit saying what are you doing and again hands me a bill.I looked inside 75 dollars.50 percent off.There are several people watching at this point.I said to him you said you were taking care of this this is not acceptable to me.I told him I'm not paying.He began a threatening posture raised his voice saying oh you gonna be like that ? Meanwhile blocking my way to exit,spit literally came out of his mouth on to my face while he was raising his voice.Ok now I have reached the full on pissed off mode because he would not get out of my way.I said get out of my way I'm leaving.Finally I managed to escape.My friends still inside.They did pay the 75.But I want him to know When I said I'm not paying It was because my friends where taking me to dinner to pay me back for fixing there house.Ironically they wanted to go to applebees,but I said oh no out back is great! Today I had my daughter place an order over the phone. Once I got there I had to have someone go find the to-go guy. He came and asked my name. He looked for my order and said it wasn't there. He checked in the back and said he looked on the computer. So I left. My daughter called back and spoke with a lady who said my order was ready. For clarity the lady on the phone verified it was the Capital Mall location. So I turned around and came back. This time I went to the front. There were two hostess standing there. One told me to go to the other door. I explained to them what happened and how I came back. There was a man nearby that said he would check. He didn't see my order. I said perhaps the woman who took the order put the name in differently. So I asked if they could check with my phone number. The man said he would go ask a manager because he wasn't sure. As I was waiting the to-go guy came up and thought another order could have been mine. He told me what he thought I ordered and that was wrong. He said he would go check again. Next a lady walks up and says "oh you're the customer." Not hello I'm Krytal a manager here. I explained to her what happened. She told me it was probably another location. I told her it wasn't and that this is the only Capital Mall location. I asked who is the lady that answers the phone. She closed her eyes and did a hand gesture saying well we all do. Then she said do you want us to just put it in now. I told her this is frustrating because my daughter just got off the phone with a lady who said it was ready that's why I came back. She says well I can't just pull t out of nowhere. I told her I didn't ask her to. She raised her voice and did another hand gesture and told me I don't have to be rude to her. I told her in no way am I being rude and she doesn't have to use such a condescending tone. I asked her name and left. There really should be a better system in place for to-go orders. Also at no time was I told I apologize for the inconvenience. This is the second time I've come there and it took a while to find my order. The unprofessional tone and behavior was so appalling and downright humilating. I couldn't believe the tone and disrespect from a manager who is supposed to act as a leader.
