Horrific experience! I took my treasured, sentimental pocketwatch to this place back in late January because it would sometimes get stuck while running. They said that the main spring is shot, so they replaced the main spring (they say) and cleaned and lubricated the mechanism. When I picked it up, the older gentleman demonstrated to me how to wind it to avoid overwinding it. Once I got it back, it was running around 45 seconds slow within a 24hr period. I called a watchmaker in Lincoln who is very intelligent and gave me a lot of information about the watch. I figured that I'd just deal with the 45 second slowness, but then by August it was running up to 7 minutes slow in a 24hr period. I had only wound it and let it run maybe 20x since I got it back. I took it back in early September for them to figure out what they did wrong. After around 6 weeks, they finally called me and said the main spring is shot. They just (supposedly) replaced it! I asked about it online in a watch repair community, and people questioned whether the main spring was actually even truly replaced by this place. I then spoke to Brenda on the phone, and she's exactly as Jim and Rich described her in their one star reviews here. I asked her, "Don't you cover your work?", and she said No. That's unheard of. She offered 50% off for them to repair it again, but I declined since the same outcome will most likely happen again. I asked if I could get a partial refund and she said "absolutely not." Horrible. I then drove to Omaha to pick up the watch. I wish that I had thought to try winding it while I was there. After getting it back, I couldn't even wind it! No sense in calling them about it then, because they would have claimed that I was the one who damaged it. Sickening. I waited until I had a doctors appointment today in Lincoln and took the watch to a very intelligent, skilled watchmaker. The watch wouldn't wind up because it was already fully wound and stuck. After the repairman loosened the balance, it then ran. He said the mainspring is fine. He removed the balance and showed it to me under a microscope. The roller jewel is bent, and the lower pivot is severely bent and damaged. Obviously the thing was severely damaged by Keepsake. The fact that it wound up and ran before I took it to them, and then it was returned fully wound up, stuck, and not moving shows that they did this. I can guarantee that it was not dropped at all by me. EVER. It's way too important to me for me to be careless with it. As for them saying the main spring was bad, the new watchmaker I took it to only had one explanation for the people at keepsake claiming that the mainspring was bad, which I won't mention. Thank God that this new watchmaker was able to find a balance for it and will be able to fix it right. With the experience of Keepsake destroying my watch and how Brenda spoke to me, I am surprised that this place has good Google reviews about watch repair. Before you consider taking your watch to this place, keep in mind what I experienced, and the fact that they don't guarantee their work at all. I have proof of what Brenda said to me, so it can't be denied. An absolutely horrible place, leaving me with wasted time, gas and $250 basically stolen for shoddy work, misinformation, and then destruction of my treasured, sentimental pocketwatch, along with rudeness. Doesn't even deserve one star. More like...
Read moreI had two rings I needed to resize . . . .(actually make larger so I could wear them!) -- both small 80's wedding ring sets. . ..I went to two different places, and I am so disappointed with one place! HOWEVER, Keepsakes was fantastic!!! They took time to resize this ring and let ME decide how I wanted it to fit on my finger! Their price was reasonable. Although both places were about a week, the 2nd place strongly encouraged me on a size (I can't even hardly get it on in the mornings), charged me more, and when I picked it up, told me "by the way - no guarantees on this, because the band is thin and it may break!" -- and I didn't receive a receipt for the cash I gave them!!! Keepsakes - YOU were FANTASTIC!!! I have other jewelry to resize and fix!!! although it's not MY WEDDING SET which I received 41 years ago, I'm totally enjoying wearing the ring you resized for me!! Read moreI relatively new customer to Keepsakes, and I have had a bunch of work done with both classic and vintage watches, from Rolex to Patek. The team at Keepsakes are Master-craftsmen! I would not have trusted some of this work to anyone else… they absolutely restored a mid-century Longines 14k watch to absolute pristine condition and a 1930s Curvex to its original condition… I had them clean up a Rolex submariner 2 tone and it shined like the day I bought it, from a very dulled state… the team is both affable and amiable, I absolutely look forward to working with them. The best jewelers by far that I’ve ever worked with, honest and the HIGHEST QUALITY WORK!!! I fully recommend the...
