As a medical professional, I can say that I’ve never had another medical colleague speak to me so condescendingly over the phone. My patient was out of state on vacation and unfortunately was having severe pain in a tooth we had recently done a root canal on. I sent prescriptions for an antibiotic and pain medication for the patient. The patient called me after hours stating that the pharmacy wouldn’t allow her to have the narcotic and that I needed to call them myself to verify the prescription. When I spoke with the pharmacist on staff, she berated me for trying to transfer a controlled substance from another Walgreens. I questioned if her e-prescribe was comparable with my dental software, and she basically told me to kick rocks. The prescription ended up going through, but from the sounds of it, she was also very rude to my patient. For someone whose job is literally to help patients obtain medication in order to feel better, this pharmacist clearly had no interest. I requested a refill to be shipped for my parent who isn't able to drive while I was put of town and found out today they never started on it and we can't get it until Monday or Tuesday. I requested the medication 5 days ago and overnight delivery, since it wasn't due until today I assumed that was enough time.
