The location was fantastic. We chose a room that had a balcony overlooking the and it was absolutely beautiful. We saw dolphins every morning. My kids loved it. There were two levels of covered parking and one level of not covered. We were able to park in the covered parking the whole time. It's a pretty busy place, so often it took a while to get to the 9th floor because we would be on the elevator and stop at every single floor because someone needed to get off or on. There were no issues noticed on the first night, but the next morning, we discovered we would be standing in ankle deep water to shower. I reported it to the front desk asking if they would fix it or move us. When I walked up to the front desk? The manager was standing right there. But as soon as I started talking about the problem, she quickly ran and hid in her office. She didn't say one word to me. But the front desk clerk said she would get someone to the room to fix it. We never saw anyone that day. We were once again standing in water, but we also discovered that the little blue c table was broken. When my child was trying to move it, the top fell off and hit my other kid in the back. I went back to the front desk and again told her about the water. I asked once again about being moved, and this time, she says they are all full on the rooms that I had, but she could downgrade me. I said no fix it. But actually fix it this time. Once again, just like the day before, the manager was standing right there but scurried off to her office. And the front desk clerk, she acted surprised that no one had been up there yet. Later, Rafeal and Kevin came up from maintenance. They were both so sweet. They seemed embarrassed that we had to stand in water. They seemed even more embarrassed that the management didn't handle this at all. But she, in fact, would run and hide in her office every time she even heard a word of a problem. And they even seemed more embarrassed. That front desk never even told them about the problem the day before.. While they were there, I told them about the table. They fixed both problems as quickly as possible. The table really seems to just have a design flaw, screws wouldn't stay in it. Rafeal put new screws in it, but by the time Kevin had the shower fixed, 2 screws fell out of the table, and all I did was move from one spot to another.. So I called Rafeal back and showed him and he brought more screws. Both Rafeal and Kevin were fantastic. Very polite and we're really seemed care that we were having a good time. They were very apologetic for the management. In the way the front desk clerk handled things. They seem to have taken pride in their work and really felt terrible That we had to call them at all. So beware of the table in 902 It really needs to be removed unless They figured out something else. Breakfast was good but busy and quite messy. On the Third morning, I asked if they had an alternative to pork because they had a sign saying that if you had dietery restrictions to ask, The woman said no, They don't offer anything else. So be careful of that. If you have restrictions, they may not have anything to substitute for you. But overall, it was a decent stay. I'm not sure I would choose this hotel again. Just simply for the fact that I pay the decent amount of money, And they did not want to take care of the situations that arose. The front desk clerk was more on the rude side than the hospitable side. And the manager didn't really care.
I forgot to mention the pool and hot tub. Part of the reason I chose this hotel was because a lot of reviews talked about the pool being heated. I definitely expected it to be more heated than what it was. It was definitely too cold for me. But others really enjoyed it. My kids had a blast. And the hot tub was really on the small side,...
Read moreAs a human, I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hampton Inn Orange Beach Gulf Front. The room was super clean as it looks like a newly renovated room. We had a balcony room that overlooked the private beach. We were told we could go to the beach area 24/7. There was a huge pool and hot tub as well. A cute Tiki bar was located on the opposite end of the pool area. Daily free hot breakfast with waffles, sausage, egg omlet style, potatoes, fruit, breads, etc. One thing I really found convenient was the "in-app check in" ahead of time using the digital room key. Using this avoids having to physically check-in as well. However, the lobby is breath taking. If you walk in from the parking garage when you walk in all you see ahead is ocean view fromt the whole room, glass windows to the beach/pool area. The staff was amazing. Employees Sha Cha and reservations clerk Connie were a tremendous help in trying to eliminate a $75 pet fee for my service animal as I provided a doctors letter and current vaccine records. I also enjoyed that if you your room is on floors 1-3 you can park on the same level as you floor via the parking garage. Avoiding carts and luggage in the lobby and having to use an elevator to get your belongings to your room. My two complaints are, number one: If you are mobility impaired be very leery of rooms that are not handicap accessible as the beds are platform beds and therefore sit a tad higher off the ground. I have hip/knee issues and I'm short (5'2). It was impossible for me to climb in the bed without a small stepstool. I'd have been sleeping in the chair had I not had bought it. On the mobility note I'd like to thank Sherika (probably misspelled, sorry) for helping me with my coffee. She saw me in my scooter trying to reach the cups in the lobby and immediately came over and offered to assist me. Even getting a cup sleeve and lid. She was kind and attentive. Service here was top notch from reservation to check out. Every employee was helpful and friendly and seemed geniunely happy to be there and assist customers. However, another complaint: Although the hotel is pet friendly. Any size dog is allowed from what I've read. Be advised that pets are not allowed on the beaches .It's an Orange Beach, AL ordinance from what we were told. The pool and breakfast area are other areas pets are not allowed. I should mention the beach was extremely clean and free of litter. I read you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas. I read on other reviews the chairs rent for 2/$45 a day. The biggest complaint is there are signs everywhere saying walk your pet in "designated areas". However, there are almost NO designated areas. The front by the parking garage is on a busy street with virtually no grass, all pavement. There was a tree in mulch I believe by the street that I believe was the designated area. We spoke with an employee and was told the dog area used to be a grassy lot that was adjacent to the property. However, that property was not owned by Hampton and is currently under construction. Be advised its a big contribution site and may be daytime noisy. We wentvon thr weekend and there was no actual construction going on next door. The site next door is completely fenced off so there's virtually nowhere for Fido to go, literally. The bartender at the Tiki bar said as long as we picked up after Fido, we could use a tiny patch of grass adjacent to the bar area. Long story short, for $75 you can bring a pet but there's no place for a...
Read moreI am severely disappointed. This hotel advertises full wheelchair routes to all amenities. The amenity list includes the beach. One would assume that there is a wheelchair route to the beach, but there is not. I spoke with a front desk representative, not the manager because she was in a meeting at the time, and voiced my displeasure in this. I was told by the front desk that they "probably don't update the website because there use to be a wheelchair route but with construction next door it was taken away". I was also told by the front desk that the beach is NOT an amenity for this property (even though it is a beach front property) that it is basically an added bonus. We were told they could move us to a sister property that had a ramp, but when I looked that property was more expensive and did not include breakfast, which for us is important due to having a handicapped member of the family it is easier to have food in the hotel instead of loading the wheelchair. With the amount of stuff that we had packed it would have taken us a whole day out of our vacation to do this. We were told we could call the property next door and see if we could use their property to enter the beach, which could have been ok but navigating there and getting someone to answer and figuring out how to enter the private condos was not easy. The pool is listed as heated and it is not. There was black mold all over a pillow case and on the pillow we found after my toddler slept on it. WE should have checked but he was exhausted and we just laid him on the bed to sleep and it was on the side facing down. There is no way that this happened overnight and should have been caught by housekeeping. We did have house keeping come and the lady apologized profusely about this and changed all the bedding. The ice maker on multiple floors was not working. This was the worst Hilton stay I have ever had. Hampton also advertises that if you are not 100% satisfied they will issue a 100% refund and that is the Hampton way. I have been denied anything in compensation, but more than anything I want them to change their website so they are not advertising that they have wheelchair routes to all amenities when they clearly do not. They need to remove that they have a heated pool, as it was frigid while we were there. As a traveler, I exclusively stay at Hilton properties. I already have a trip book for October, but that will likely be my last stay...
