We just stopped in on our way to Foley for my daughterâs birthday. We had never been before so when we came in and immediately stepped to the side and out of the way. The girl behind the counter (shorter with dark hair) immediately asked what we wanted. Not how can I help you but rather what do you want?
I advised at that time we didnât know what we wanted and it would be a minute. She proceeded to ask two more times..we were still out of the way, and told anyone else (2 other people) who came in that we didnât know what we wanted and they could go ahead.
I was honestly looking for a chocolate glazed donut with nonpareils. My daughter walked around the counter to see what was over there or if there were toppings trying to compromise and at this time the girl asks, âso you DONâT want any donuts then?â I said, âmaâam, yes we do. We are looking and not ready to order. I will let you know when we are.â and she proceeded to walk away.
Fast forward to the other customers ordering - we are finally decided and ready to order. We place the order and proceed to checkout where the young lady (taller blonde) was passive aggressive the entire time.
If this is how you guys treat locals - I can only imagine how you treat tourists. This is really bad behavior and I hope whoever the manager or owner is sees this and uses it as a coaching lesson. My bigger hope is that neither of these young ladies are either of those things.
Please do better and be NICER to people - ESPECIALLY if you want to be tipped for service. Our standard 30% tip immediately went to 0 after this interaction - and I caught that extra passive aggressive âhave a WONDERFUL rest of your dayââŚ.anyone who has ever been in food service would have....
Read moreSo the overall review that we give will make sense as you read it. So my wife and I were pretty excited to try this place out as we read the reviews so we made a 25 min drive to test them out. When we entered, we were pleased at the fact that it was very clean and looked nice. When we turned out attention to the display case were were extremely dissapointed with the variety of donuts available expecially since the past reviews displayed some donuts that we absolutely wanted to try. The person instructed us that this is what they typically make at this time of year...real shame as there are still snowbirds down here including us. The donuts that we did choose were excellent, we would have just prefered a heads up that "hey...we only have these 2 cake donuts and none of the rest...and both were plain cake donuts pretty much. We are here until mid March so I guess if we are in the area at that time we will drive by and look in the window to see if the display case is full...just a let down.
UPDATE - Updated the Stars as well: Owner got back to me and informed me that I could in fact order whatever donut I like that they made and the cost would be whatever the regular walk in price was. My wife are doing this now for the second time and I can say we are extremely pleased. It would be nice to just walk in and purchase them rather than order them, but we understand the whole "off season" thing with supply and demand so for now we are satisfied. We will try again in March when they come into season to see how their selection is. We still do believe offering more than 2 cake donuts even during the off season should be done....City Donuts for now is at least the special...
Read moreLIZ! I just pulled away, had to park and give my 2 cents worth. A lovely person was waiting on me. I asked for kolaches, she said we do not have them here. I lamented that my Google Maps query for âKOLACHES NEAR MEâ offered your store 2.2 miles and 2 U turns away. Just as I finished my comments âLIZâ booms from the back and exclaims âWe donât have Kolaches.â I told her the internet, (my mistake should have said Google Maps) said that you do. With more fire and fuss, she said to the lady helping me, âitâs not on the website, WE CANâT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATâS ON Google. I have havenât eaten your product so I donât know if you have the best donut store in the world. Iâm sitting on the parking lot wondering why such an embarrassment works in your store. She speaks with great authority and gristliness, lots of spit and vinegar, like a Mac Truck with hot brakes. You know the type, youâve seen them before. It wasnât her information it was the delivery! I asked the sweet lady helping me if LIZ was the owner. She said no, âShe just works her like me.â This info was offered with great fear and trembling, do you think LIZ has given her a dress-down too. There were other people in the store when all this happened. Iâm glad sheâs not the owner, that would have been a whole âotherâ issue. But, to the Owner, you might want to consider this issue with your disposable time before this employeeâs actions demand your urgent attention.
Now Iâve cooled off considerably, had one of your scrumptious donutsâŚummm, and wonât allow another...
