Sleep Inn on the Beach is a hidden gem. It's tucked in between two taller, modern-looking hotels, but the charm is what attracts folks (and I'm sure the price). When you walk inside you feel welcomed and not overwhelmed by glitz and glam. You just feel like you are home. The front desk staff is very welcoming and a young lady named "Jennifer" was part of the reason I booked the reservation, despite the several hotel options in the area. Upon our arrival there were several luggage racks available, the check-in process was easy and quick, and the layout of the building made everything accessible.
When we arrived into the room, it was tight for what we are used to, but all of the amenities made up for the tight squeeze. The room had several outlets, a balcony feature that still posed a good view of the beach and sun, from the side of the building and the bathroom could easily fit 3 or more people.
My daughters and I felt safe, warm, and cozy as we went from the pool to the beach with no problem. There were an abundance of "shareables," pool toys, in the pool area, an abundance of seating around the pool, with several umbrellas and tables. The wooden ramp to get onto the beach was handicap friendly and even someone in a wheel chair could enjoy the view and the sand with a little help. There were also snow cones offered for free and you chose the flavor between (noon and 8pm).
After many rounds of swimming in both the pool and the ocean, we made it into the shower. And when I tell you THE SHOWER IS THE CHERRY ON TOP - My God!!!! After a long day of driving and swimming, the shower relaxed my tired muscles as the hot water was the perfect way to wash off the sandy memories. While we showered, we dried our clothes in the FREE DRYERS, which are available at the end of every hall on every floor. And there was NO WAIT!!!
I woke up the next morning early enough to sit on the beach and catch the sunrise. And when I tell you it was breathtaking...omg... My YouTube Subs and viewers loved the video I made with the beach and sunrise in the back ground. It was so beautiful though, that I had to wake up my daughters so they could see it in person. We took some amazing photos.
Following the sunrise, we went to breakfast and THE OMELET STATION was AMAZING!!! Yes, I said it - AN OMELET STATION! You take a number, write that number on the tiny paper that contains the omelet filling options and its made to order. It was quick and delicious. One of the highlights of my morning. The waffles were great and they had a great variety of breakfast options. We didn't even miss the bacon or sausage, because of the amazing spread. Everything was easily accessible and the guest made it easy to just flow in and out of line as needed.
Our day commenced with swimming in the pool, a quick visit to the beach, seashell collecting, followed by an amazing shower.
With perfect timing, you can honestly squeeze in a sunrise watch, breakfast, swimming, showering and packing with a crew of 3 or 4, fill the car and be checked out by 10:50am. Just shy of the 11:00 am checkout time.
We left feeling like we spent several days at the Sleep Inn on the Beach, and we only did a 2 day one night stay.
We will most certainly be back!
Thanks for the greatest experience.

Read moreMy daughter and I did a last min trip to Orange Beach (day of decision). I wanted to be on the beach since we were only staying 2 nights but didn't want to spend a lot of money. This was perfect. The location was right on the beach. We had a room facing the parking lot and it had a small balcony (not big enough to sit or anything) but we could still see the beach and ocean from the side. For the price we were fine with this. They do have ocean view options as well, just note I did notice the 1st floor seem to have a blocked view so I would not pay for ocean front/view and want the 1st floor.||The staff were super nice and helpful. It is just a basic hotel but it had everything we needed. The breakfast was great. They had 2 people cooking actual omelets each morning. You can tip them, which I did but it's part of the complimentary breakfast. Along with that they had a waffle maker, bagels, fresh fruit, cereal, muffin sandwiches and more! We even saved some of the sandwiches and put in our fridge in our room and had those for lunch/snack. Since we were only there for 2 nights I asked for a late check out, if you sign up for the Choice membership you can get a late check out for free. (Till noon.) ||The rooms were big enough for what we needed. The rooms had coffee, a microwave and mini fridge. The ice machine is on the first floor and if you need bulk ice the front desk had it. They even had snow cones for the kids -free-starting at noon each day if you went to the front desk. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfy and we had everything we needed. (We had two beds, regular room.) One small sink, only downfall if you have a bigger family, and shower only no bath.)||The pool was basic but it was nice enough for a cool down or for my daughter to enjoy. They had free floatie to use and the kids all seemed to be having fun. Lots of patio space and lounge chairs. You have to go through the pool entrance to get to the beach. They had pool towels but they got taken quickly so you might want to bring your own.||The beach was perfect location and you can rent chairs ($45 for the full day) if you want them. ||The only down falls....the hallway did have a musty smell but it wasn't horrible. Only two elevators and they were slow at times, but to be expected with the amount of guest. Again, the ice machine is on the main floor. ||The location was also really nice right across the street was Walmart and Publix as well as CVS, gas, other shopping etc. We had our car but if you didn't have a car I saw people crossing the street over to the shopping. The road is busy so you would have to be careful but it is possible to cross over and get what you need including a souvenir shop etc.||We will stay here again especially for a...
Read moreThe hotel is in dire need of maintenance and renovation. The room that we first stayed, in, which was 526, had electrical problems and plumbing issues. There was almost no water pressure, and the shower control unit was very hard to understand and control the carpets and the hallways smelled and were threadbare in lots of places. They moved us down to Room 222, in which we continue to have problems with water pressure. The mirror light, which is controlled by the main switches. You walk in the door there were times when I would have to flip the switch multiple times to get the light to come on. The light outside the door was literally hanging out of the ceiling. The wall on the 1st floor has huge cracks in it that can be seen from above. All of the ceilings are peeling in every room that we stayed in. The showers are extremely small and for the amount of money that you spend on a room, you can actually find a nicer hotel to stay in for not much difference in price. The breakfasts were fantastic. The omelets were great, and the breakfast selection was good. The staff would was nice and willing to help but yeah, the building itself is in major disrepair. I have problems with my knees and back and walking out to the beach down the steep incline. Of the boardwalk was painful, and I watched many people. Struggle to get up-and-down it. It's almost as if the owning company of the hotel doesn't want to do anything but collect the money from it and not put any money back into the facilities. When you're sitting on the balcony, you're getting wet and sometimes from the drainage, from the AC. Units, which are in the wall and because of the way the rooms are set up a lot of the airflow, is blocked by the cabinets that they have in front of the AC. Unit, the chairs on the balcony are extremely uncomfortable for someone of my size, the pillows themselves on the bed seemed to be folded half in 2 and shoved into a pillowcase, making it uncomfortable to sleep on them. As I've said before, it's almost as if the owners of the hotel don't want to do truly anything for their guests. I spoke to other guests. And one of the guests who was in next to me into 520 had been moved from another room because their room in the bathroom, the wall behind the shower rack was covered in mold. You can tell that the carpets are not maintained at all. They're not vacuumed, nothing you can literally see the sand in the carpet. On the second...
