Overall, Oakhurst is a GREAT community to live. For the price, you cannot find a better place. Although older, the apartment is comfortable and we've really loved having two bathrooms. The closets are large. The complex is next to the train tracks so if you're sensitive to ultra noise, like I am, this is not the place for you. However, when I moved in I freaked out that I was near a train but I got used to it! (Yes, really.) That said, we've lived here two years and I haven't had one negative experience with the staff or the neighbors. There are A LOT of dogs here, and there was an issue with people not cleaning up after them, but management resolved it quickly and I haven't seen much of a problem since. There are assigned parking stalls, which is nice. We have two vehicles and parking has not been a problem. The walls and windows are really thin, so when people are speaking outside the apartment, it sounds like they're in your house and we can hear every move our upstairs neighbors make, but I think that's how many apartments are built. Personally, I have not been in the pool, but my son has and said it was well-maintained. I used the gym a few times and everything I used worked fine. There are also big bins for recycling and we really like that. When we moved in, there was no valet garbage and I'm not sure why they added it since there are dumpsters near each building. I've never used the valet garbage and it seems like a waste to me, but I'm sure some people find it helpful. I think Holly and Jake are great. EVERY interaction I've had with them, they have been nothing but polite and helpful. They were super organized when we moved in and also very helpful when we renewed our lease. They have never been rude or disrespectful to us, nor given us an ounce of trouble. We didn't ever have a reason or need to call maintenance the entire time we lived here, so I'm not sure about them, but they never bothered us. Pros: fantastic location; great value; pets allowed; nice units; great pool; nice patios; recycling; plenty of parking; awesome staff; great playground for children. Cons: constant trains; thin walls and windows; valet garbage. We are re-locating this month, but we loved living at Oakhurst and would recommend...

I CAN GO ON FOR DAYS WRITING ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE THIS PLACE IS. I DON'T KNOW HOW I'M LIVING HERE RIGHT NOW. I WENT IN TO CLARIFY SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT A FEW POLICIES AFTER RENEWING MY LEASE AND SHE SAID THAT THEY DON'T HAVE MY LEASE. THEN HOW THE HECK DO I HAVE A COPY OF THE RENEWED LEASE WITH YOUR SIGNATURE ON IT. SHE'S A LIAR AND MANIPULATOR. DON'T KNOW HOW SHE GETS AWAY WITH IT. DON'T KNOW HOW SHE GOT THE POSITION OF BEING A MANAGER. I CURRENTLY RESIDE HERE AT THE APARTMENT FOR ANOTHER 9 MONTHS AND I AM NOT AFRAID TO LET EVERYONE KNOW MY RATE & REVIEW OF THESE APARTMENTS. IT'S MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND TO EXPRESS. IF SHE HAS A PROBLEM, SHE CAN DEAL WITH IT IN 9 MONTHS AFTER I MOVE OUT AND END MY LEASE. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FEEL TARGETED LIVING HERE, DO NOT MOVE HERE. I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE PEOPLE KNOW NOW ABOUT THIS PLACE AND NOT WAIT TILL I MOVE OUT. AS FOR NOW, THIS PLACE WILL GET THE ONE AND ONLY STAR THAT FORCES ME TO GIVE IN ORDER FOR ME TO POST THIS REVIEW. THAT'S HOW HORRIBLE THIS PLACE IS DUE TO "HER". I'LL THINK ABOUT GIVING THIS PLACE AT LEAST A QUARTER OF A STAR WHEN I MOVE OUT.
I KNOW YOU'LL READ THIS SO MAKE SURE YOU'RE AWARE OF WHERE I STAND ON THIS PLACE. THIS PLACE SUCKS BECAUSE OF "YOU". IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT YOU KNOW BECAUSE I CAN CARELESS ABOUT ALL YOUR LITTLE COMPLAINTS AND LIES. IT DOESN'T FAZE ME. I'M JUST EXPRESSING THIS REVIEW ONLINE SO...
Read moreOverall, it's a wonderful apartment to live in. I just moved out after living there for 2 years. We have two children ages 7 and 10.
"Management" has really done a great job fostering a child friendly atmosphere. Many of the moms would gather outside in lawn chairs together. I felt safe sending my children out to play, and I felt generally comfortable with the people and children they interacted with (like any other neighborhood). I would say that that is the BIGGEST perk for this complex. (A caveat being that I don't remember all children always getting along, but that is life.)
I am an intensely personal person, and you won't see me going out to meet the neighborhood. I stayed true to that while I lived there, with my children bringing me most of the news. It worked fine. I felt that there were people around to talk with and also a great deal of privacy.
Holly and Jake were always so great. I mean, they work for the owners and have to go to work like everyone-- keeping rules and such. Rules never came up for me, I'm not sure if it's because I didn't really break any. There was a clear line of communication, clear expectations and absolutely ZERO SURPRISES.
Often Holly made kind exceptions for us, like when our rent was late a couple of times dues to job loss. She had this really amazing way of not making you feel bad, even though you were going through a rough time. The management was generally chill about most things.
I LOVED the maintenance staff. They are the BEST.
The only real draw backs are the parking enforcement and that the actual apartment itself was a bit run down/old. However,...
