Don't bring your jewelry here for any repairs!
I was gifted a beautiful tennis bracelet but it was too big. I brought it to Mari Lou's to resize the bracelet and make earrings out of the extra diamond stones. I should've known it was going to be a bad experience from the start. The sales associate pressured me to make earrings different than the design I had in my mind. For a lot more money too. AND she made a huge deal that the stones weren't actual diamonds, that it was a moissanite bracelet (stones are lab created with minimal environmental impact).
So after weeks of waiting, I finally had my bracelet and earrings. I wore them both every day since picking it up and unfortunately, after maybe 3 months the bracelet broke. Thinking the site of the break was where the jeweler at Mari Lou's removed the extra stones, I took the bracelet back for repair. What happened after shocked me...
They took my jewelry for over a week to evaluate my bracelet and then called to say they couldn't repair it because it was moissanite ("these aren't real diamonds") and said the bracelet had been previously worn. After explaining I wore the bracelet every day, they said it was more than every day wear and tear - they suggested the bracelet was previously purchased and returned and then sold to my husband. Um, what?!
Leads me to assume because we did not purchase the bracelet directly from the store the said sales associate held a grudge and would not help fix my bracelet. We won't be going back. There are other local...
Read moreI really wanted to add an old gold ring I had to my soon to be husbandâs wedding band. It had special meaning to me and I wanted to include it on his wedding band to make it extra special. A different jeweler told me it couldnât be done and I should get a chain for him to wear it around his neck. I went into MaryLouâs and was greeted by Agata. She sat down with me and I explained what I wanted to do, and she immediately began brainstorming with me. My fiancĂŠ wanted a tungsten based ring, and even though itâs a tough material to work with, she was confident the jeweler there could make something happen. I could not be more pleased with the finished product!! Agata was available to answer any of my questions and concerns every step of the way, and they got a difficult job done for me just in time for my wedding. She even made sure my fiancĂŠ kept his eyes closed when he went in to make sure the ring size was right. I can not thank them enough for transforming something that was once so special to me, into something that will be special for my husband for the rest of our lives! Thank...
Read moreFirst time customer . . . This morning I met Mari Lou, and 3 of her helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, yet professional staff. I brought in a bracelet that just 'fell apart' on me one day. It was a 'simple' piece, but I loved wearing it, and it had sentimental value. Together with Mari Lou's discriminating eye and everyone else's contribution, it was put back together with a new (and beautiful) clasp that looked like it was made for the bracelet; it added it's own charm to the bracelet. In addition, I left a ring for repair of one of the prongs, for which I was quoted a very reasonable repair price. I regret that I don't remember the names of the other people I interacted with this morning :(, but I'm sure I will get to know them as I plan to be a regular customer. They deserve all 5 stars! Really! You should go...
