The doctor I saw and the others who work here are nice, but this place is a mess on the administrative side.
After my appointment, the doctor told me he would write a prescription I needed for 90-day refills because it was a medication Iāve taken for a long time. Iām not sure where the wires got crossed, but when I went to pick up this prescription, it hadnāt been called in at all, so I had to call the office again for a second attempt to have the prescription called in.
While they did at least call it in the second time, it ended up being for 30-day refills instead of 90-day, which it turns out my insurance only covered for two refills before it required 90-day refills. I donāt expect doctorās offices to have encyclopedic knowledge of insurance policies, but I have the same insurance that most UChicago Medicine employees have, so I was surprised they didnāt know how important it was to write the prescriptions for 90-day refills.
The real problem, though is that my insurance company contacted the doctorās office for a 90-day refill a week ago, and the office never responded. And now theyāre closed for Thanksgiving. Iāll end up going almost two weeks without a prescription (that actually still has two more 30-day refills) because it was never written correctly.
The UChicago Orland Park family medicine clinic is probably fine for primary care if you donāt have any prescriptions that are particularly important, but I wouldnāt recommend it for things you really need. Iāll be changing my primary care when the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a deeply frustrating experience at this facility. I arrived for my much-needed ultrasound appointment, which was scheduled for 2 PM. I checked in at 2:15 PM and was promptly directed to level 4. When I approached the desk, the staff informed me that I had already checked in and instructed me to take a seat in the waiting area.
After a brief wait, I was called back to the desk, only to be told that the ultrasound technician refused to see me because I was late, despite the fact that I was still within the time frame of my appointment. To make matters worse, I was reminded that I needed to be NPO (nothing by mouth) for 6-8 hours prior to the procedure, which I was already fully aware of. To my dismay, I was told that the next available appointment for the ultrasound would not be until April 8th. This delay is unacceptable, especially considering my health needs cannot wait that long.
Although the ladies at the front desk on the first floor were incredibly kind and empathetic when I returned downstairs, my overall experience was incredibly disheartening. It feels disrespectful to be turned away after going through the check-in process, especially when I urgently require this ultrasound. The lack of communication and support from the staff on level 4 was disappointing, and it has left me feeling neglected during a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI saw a neurologist at this clinic about a month ago and I still feel very frustrated. Although, he was very nice, and the neurology resident who attended me as well, I felt completely dismissed. I had been in a serious car accident which resulted in a ringing in my ears. My attempt to find a better understanding of what if anything I could do to heal this condition, only lead to my being told it was probably going to happen anyway as I am in my sixties, and to try to relax. The visit was not only useless, but added to my stress, as I responded to their kindness with gratitude and did not voice my opinion at the time. Kindness is wonderful, but cannot take the place of honesty. In reality, they had no answers as to what to do. This condition unfortunately is difficult to treat and there is ongoing research being done. So what is so difficult about just saying, I'm sorry I cannot help you? Instead of trying to make it seem like it was inevitable and you just need to relax. I am as relaxed as anyone can be with constant ringing in my ears, and this was the result of the accident, not my age. Full stop. I would not recommend seeing a neurologist at this clinic, unless you are only in need of soft tones, and "...
