The only reason this review has two stars is because of how nice Pearl and the on-duty manager were to me when I went back in for help. I've never been more destroyed by a haircut... I've barely stopped crying in the past 24 hours and I haven't figured out yet how I'm going to function while this mess of chin length hair with nose length layers grows out. This makes me sound horribly vain, I know, but when you're having self esteem issues in the first place and then someone butchers your hair, it can be devastating.
I went in with a grown out a line hair cut that desperately needed a trim and to get rid of the points. My hair is now chin length with super short layers in the front. It's hideous. Matthew asked how I felt about layers and I said I was open to them, thinking he meant longer ones. When he made the first cut at my bangs, bringing the hair up to nose length I expressed concern. "Haven't you ever had layers before," he asked me. When I continued to express concern he told me it wasn't going to be what I thought and just kept cutting. I'd already told him about my last bad haircut and how awful it had been and yet he continued with the heavy, short layering. During the cut he boasted to me about how great he was at coloring and layering and then, after I started crying because of the ridiculous cut and blowout he'd given me, he told me how fantastic he was at blowouts but maybe it just wasn't for everyone. He told me how great my hair would look when it grew out, and that I should take biotin, as if that would help in some way. The experience with him was awful. The worst I've ever, ever, ever had.
This morning I went back in to ask for help. Pearl spent a lot of time with me trying to correct what had been done and she's thankfully evened out the bulk and corrected the unevenness of the two sides of my head. It's still horrible, though. She did the best she could, but the haircut doesn't make any sort of sense whatsoever. There's no way to style it to make it look right. I look like someone held me down and chopped all my hair off as punishment.
Whatever you do, no matter what, do not sit with Matthew. Stay away at all costs!! I'm sure it will get better but the next 3 months of my life, at least, are ruined. I've never been more angry or more sad over my stupid appearance.
I received a call back from the district manager this afternoon to discuss the complaint message I'd submitted on the website. He listened quietly, with no interjections, as I rehashed the story. When I finished I asked him if he was still there, and was told he was just listening. While he expressed empathy for what happened, he basically told me they can't add hair back after it's been taken off. He offered to send me back to Pearl on a weekly basis for styling, but I can't see how having someone blow dry my hair once a week is going to help anything when I still have to function with it on a daily basis. When I mentioned how great Pearl had been and that I'd even bought 80 dollars worth of product from her for hair I don't even have right now, he told me I could return those items if I no longer needed them.
I suppose I was hoping for more from that conversation, as I was even more upset when I got off the phone with the DM. I called the customer care line that's listed on the web site and got a hold of someone who treated me like he didn't know why I would bother to call. He expressed no empathy, had no change of tone whatsoever, and simply told me "what happens in the field stays in the field." It's up to the DM to handle it.
People get bad haircuts, I get it. But this is beyond a bad haircut. This is the ultimate example of butchering. I have four inch long sections of hair on top of my head, when I had no layers whatsoever when I went in. This doesn't even begin to resemble anything I would have asked for. It's a butchery. At the very least I'd have expected something more than, "sorry. what's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in to this establishment on Friday April 16th and asked to make an appointment to have a full highlight haircut and style as well as have a strand test preformed as I am a hairstylist and I am aware that I color my hair often and want to be sure that my hair is capable of handling lighter. The stylist that attended to me explained that she didnāt have the time but she would book me with a stylist named Dan or Daniel? At 3 pm on April 17th which was fine by me I asked for an appointment card but she didnāt āhave oneā at the time š¤·š½āāļø I get it she was busy...
I get to my appointment 15 minutes early so I have time to discuss with my stylist what I want because as a stylist we can be a bit picky and indecisive. I brought inspirational photos of myself so he can see previous transitional processes and decide how he feels most comfortable going forward with the process.
When I was asked if I had an appointment there were 3 stylists at the front desk. I tell them my name but they canāt seem to find me. There are a few people checking out so I waited for these customers to clear out and make my way to the desk. That is when I was told that my appointment was at 2 not 3 and that my stylist tried to call the phone number left on file ( I never left a phone number, nor was I ever asked for a phone number which I thought was odd) and that due to my being an hour late to my appointment I would not be able to be serviced today.
I understand being late can mean losing your appointment especially in this service industry, however communication and appointment verification is also important. I do not believe that every customer is right every time however I do believe that when there is a mistake it should be fixed.
I did not even receive the courtesy of a consultation, even if we could not have done the color today because it wouldāve taken too long we could have at least cut my hair today and scheduled the color for tomorrow or another day this week. Instead I had to pay for a ride to go to an appointment that was canceled unbeknownst to me and then pay for a ride home because I can no longer drive due to the car accident I was in.... so much for trying to make myself feel betterš¤¦š½āāļø
I would never ever say any rude comments about the stylist in this establishment due to the fact that they have never actually done my hair and Iām not opposed to making a future appointment at this establishment however I feel that the communication between the staff and the clients needs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI called customer service while at the salon to make sure I understood the policy of a blow dry included with color services, of which the statement is listed on a poster by the checkout but not adhered to by the salon "professional" who did our service today; Joel. He said it would be $132 for my daughter's color services, and leave w/ wet hair, but $188 if she wanted her hair blown dry after the coloring. I said no to the $188 because a $56 blow dry at Hair Cuttery just didn't sit right with me. However while waiting for her to process, I looked up and read the salon policies and asked the girl at the counter about it compared to what Joel told me. She said, "Hmmm, it's really up to each stylist how they want to do it." No, I said politely, it's a corporate standard written right above you. And she looked at it and shrugged and walked right up to Joel and began talking to him about what I asked her about. How childish and unprofessional. He then just stopped doing my daughter's hair and stood with his arms crossed glaring at me. Instead of saying; you're right, all color services DO include a shampoo, condition, and blow dry; my bad...I made a mistake when i told you it would be $56 more!! Nope. When i told them the customer service team over the phone said yes a blow dry is included he just said no that is only with a package ok? Which is totally not true!! It clearly states "all color services" include a blow dry....right...how else could you see your true color result to see if you even liked it?? When we got home I see the sad job and patchy coloration of the work he did. I'm so sad paying this price and looking at the level...
