WARNING WIPLASH: I am a thrill seeker and was so ready to finally ride this ride with my 3yr old. The ride is faster than it looks from the ground and swings more too, fun! All of that was fun and exciting! I was concerned with how secure my child was in the seat in-front of me, but convinced myself she was safe and it was probably a common fear for parents and I should chill. We were a few fun turns into the ride and were swinging around a corner and really had picked up some speed when the whole ride abruptly stopped! And I mean ABRUPTLY! It was as if a rock was thrown into the gears and locked them up instantly! We had so much speed and with the turn of the corner my whole upper body flew over the lap bar and so did my 3 year olds!! We were stopped on the track for 10-15sec and I was able to watched as the onlookers below stood with their hands covering their mouths. I could feel a lump form in my throat from the realization that my daughter could have been catapulted out of the seat from the force of the stop! I started to tear up but had to keep it cool while the ride resumed for my daughter. At the end I was concerned and told the technician what we experienced. She brushed me off and told me the ride will brake to slow down in some place. I am sure it was not that! Surely they knew the ride had just stopped for 15sec right? No acknowledgment of that as we unloaded. We left the ride, found my husband who had gone on it earlier with no issue and I sobbed! I was left with a terrible headache the rest of the day, a sore neck for a...
Read morePteranodon Flyers at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is a fantastic experience for younger guests, and my son absolutely loved it. The unique suspended ride gives you the feeling of gliding through the air like a prehistoric bird, offering beautiful aerial views of Jurassic Park that you won’t get anywhere else in the park.
One of the highlights is that the ride feels gentle yet exciting—perfect for kids who might be too young or nervous for the bigger coasters. The height and motion provide just enough thrill without being overwhelming, and my son couldn’t stop talking about it afterward.
The only drawback is that it’s exclusively for children between certain height ranges (with adults riding as companions), so families should plan accordingly. The wait times can be longer because of the limited seating per ride vehicle, but for us, it was worth every minute.
If you have a dino-loving child, this is a must-do attraction that combines wonder, excitement, and a one-of-a-kind perspective...
Read moreA child ride that many children are not allowed to ride.
Example: Pteranodon Flyers only allows children to ride with one adult. That rule had its reasons (some good). So many adults clog up child rides and have no child in their group. The height restriction with the ride was a problem. Adults could ride on it (when accompanied by a child), but tall 8 and 9 year-olds in our group could not. They were denied. Two attempts (and 50 minutes) to visit customer service in other areas of the park (none near the ride) to determine if the children could ride with management approval (checking birth certificate and confirming height) were wastes of time. Children under 10 and under 48 inches tall (but not in thick sneakers) should be able to ride a child's ride. We were willing to buy sandals or do anything, but all...
