If this place wasn't in the Universal park it would be out of business. We had been having a great day and started to look for somewhere to eat. This place had plenty of available seating inside which was great as it was a very hot day. As we entered there was a short line of people waiting to be seated (at least that's what I assumed) so we got in line. At this point one of the employees attempted to tell us something but it was obvious he had no idea what he was talking about, so we asked if we needed to wait to be seated and he mumbled something about the app. He then wandered off so we stayed in line. After 10 minutes the line had not moved, no one had been seated and all of the employees looked busy but were not actually doing much. There were still plenty of empty tables so eventually my wife went to ask the employee (who was at the front of the queue supposedly dealing with seating people) what was going on. She looked off into the distance and mumbled something about waiting for someone to come back. My wife asked if we could just sit down and then order to which she was asked if she had already downloaded the app and ordered from there. We had the Universal app on our mobiles so she said 'yep, I have the app' but the employee asked again if we had ordered. Are you mad? Why would we order before we had sat down and even looked properly at the menu? At this point a family of 4 just walked in and sat where they wanted to and started looking at the menu, so we decided to do the same as it was obvious the woman had no idea what she was doing. After sitting down we tried to order using the app but it wouldn't accept the order (lots of people were having the same issue) so we asked if we could order at one of the 6 empty tills. We were told to wait until someone came along who could open a till. After 10 minutes someone came along and we placed the order and sat down. While I was waiting I had a good look around. There were about 10 employees walking around but not actually doing anything, the queue by now was out of the door and there were still plenty of empty tables. The employee at the front of the queue was still looking off into the distance as if waiting for divine inspiration. Our food then arrived (quite quickly actually). I inwardly sighed as I realised my cheeseburger and chips were completely cold. My daughter had ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which was equally as cold. My wife had a chicken salad which she said was good and the cheese pizza my son had ordered was also apparently good. Had we not already waited for nearly an hour I would have sent my burger back but I just ate it in sadness. The best thing about this place was the...
Read moreWe went to Universal around during the March Spring Break time, this is considered one of the busiest times of the year. With that being said this place was the only food place with virtually no line, the food was decent leaning towards alright but the service is what brought the one star. Our first time walking in here we of course didn't know where to order or what we were supposed to do, so we walked right past the empty registers and watched as the cooks were making other peoples food, after around 5 minutes a man finally approached us and just stood in front of us awkwardly until I spoke up and said, "Is this where we order?". He then replied "oh no follow me" and walked us 3 feet back into the register that was just empty, after taking our orders we mentioned we had the season pass discount along with the marti gras food giftcard and he just stared at us, then his co worker came over and worked him through everything. After the coworker left we tried again and the exact same thing happened. At this point the transaction finally went through, the man didn't tell us where to go, or have a nice day, or anything in that matter. He straight up just went silent and we assumed we just walked up to grab our food.
The food was good but you could tell it was rushed or pre-made.
For service this bad at a themed amusement park such as Universal should be disgraceful. Please train your staff to be more polite and helpful with costumers, instead of just watching...
Read moreAs quirky as this comic themed cafe is, it’s really just an extremely average place to eat in Universal, if not below average. I also feel, as a person in their 20s, that the comic section in general is pretty outdated. I think for some adults it’s still fun, but as time continues to go on it’s less and less relatable for younger generations, which is an important appeal.
But this cafe: they have your typical American fast eats- pizza, burgers, grilled chicken sandwich, and salads. They also have a random Asian platter. I got pizza with a side salad and once again, it was just average. It wasn’t bad but it’s typically what you expect of “theme park food”. Same goes for the burger.
You’ll also most likely wait quite awhile in line, even with this being one of the less popular dining destinations in Islands of Adventure. I won’t come often, but maybe once in a great while when I’m desperate for food and it’s the...
