Wow! Talk about crappy customer service,,,! If I could leave a negative star, I would.
I called ahead and asked about a specific key I needed. I needed 10 key blanks. The guy on the phone assured me he had them and would set them aside for me.
When I arrived at the store, I went to the key department and proceeded to wait in line. The guy who I had talked to was there but getting ready to leave. Before he left, I wanted to get his attention and let him know I was there. The lady behind the key counter immediately coped an attitude with me and said, "I've been working here for over three years and I can take care of anything you have". And let the guy go home.
So, I proceeded to wait for 20 minutes. Finally, it is my turn. So I tell her that I'm there to pick up the 10 key blanks that I had talked to the guy about. And, still in her crappy attitude tone, she says... "We don't carry those." So I told her that the guy assured me that he had what I needed. So, then she asked me, "Did he set them aside for me? What did he say exactly?" So, i said, "Why don't you ask him?" And then she said... Still in her smart ass condescending tone, "He's gone for the day." DUH, really?
So, on the way out, I ask the cashier if I can talk to the manager... And guess who the manager is... You guessed it, the smart ass behind the key counter.
When you call in and get put on hold, their recording says how great their service is... And then they compare themselves to the "Major Stores"... What a bunch of B.S.
I will NEVER step foot in that Ace Hardware store again and you shouldn't either. Complete...
Read moreUpdate 01/16/23 I'm not sure what's happening lately, but the last several times I've gone to Ace, the service has dropped it seems. I always try to spend my money in Oswego first, especially at the smaller stores.
Today I went in about (01/16/23) 12:15 and the young lady at the cash register was on the phone, there were no other customers. I waited several minutes because she was talking to somebody, but her conversation didn't seem like it was professional. She could have been talking to a customer, I'm just not 100% sure it was. Honestly, either way that's fine. I just wanted her to acknowledge me, and even though she saw me, she said nothing.
Anyway when I got tired of being ignored and I tapped on the counter and said, "I'm leaving, you know you have a customer here?" That's the first time she acknowledged me and motion to wait a minute. If she you would have done that in the first place I wouldn't have walked out. Like I said something's been happening lately. I know this doesn't seem bad at all, but that's how it starts. And in the last few months the service has gotten sloppy. I'm not going to spend my money somewhere that the customer is not appreciated.

Got an email Later that day saying they're out of inventory and took the liberty to order it and it will come in their next shipment. I call the store on May 6 and spoke to a nice young lady initially and asked her when will the shipment come in. She asked my name and put me on hold and put the manager on the line. He rudely interrupted me as I was explaining to him the situation and talked to me very unprofessional. He said he dont know when my item will get to their store and that's for me to find out. I was extremely disappointed in his customer service skills and just asked if I can cancel my order because How he talked and that it was false information online. He said very rudely again, that's for you to figure out. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THIS LOCATION and if this is the type of people Ace have running their stores, I WILL NOT SHOP AT ACE AGAIN AND RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE I KNOW TO NEVER SHOP THERE because of unprofessional people like this store manager.
