I visited the restaurant on fathers day since it was highly rated and I was not impressed. In fact I wish I had eaten at home. The first issue was that once we sat down we still had over a 15 minute wait to get served from the time we placed our order. The downtown is nice, I would much rather have been outside waiting. The second issue is that the coffee was terrible. I do drink very good coffee so I wasn't expecting too be blown away but keep in mind there are signs everywhere for "We serve intelligentsia..." it was a big let down. How do you screw up good coffee? Skimp on the grounds. If it was too strong i could have added water. Is there an intelligentsia police? On the plus side the coffee got returned no charge and no attitude but still... breakfast without coffee is a bad start to the day. Other things to consider... Pancakes were very hard to cut, even for adults reaching across the table... nobody smiled except the cashier, and the place is cash only. My fault on that one since there was a big enough sign at the front counter but it was not pleasant driving to a local bank to get money.
I will say that others didn't have issue with the coffee which baffles me and they seemed to be enjoying the food so maybe I'm expecting too much for a...
Read moreJust left with my three small children and it was absolutely terrible from beginning to end. The welcome committee and waitress were both very slow from the start and it took almost an HOUR to receive our very small order. Two child pancake orders and one waffle. Food finally arrived and we had no syrup so I asked for it only for our waitress to come back and give the table next to us their drinks, glance over and us and remember "Oh yeah, syrup!". Once our food arrives, My four year old decided that being well behaved for an hour was long enough so now he wants to leave. My other two children are finished eating and ready to leave so I walk up to pay and as I have over my card I am told "We only accept cash or check". Frustration rises. I ask where their ATM is and THEY DO NOT HAVE ONE. Silly me to have asked them, right? So I have to run down the street to Oswego Inn to use their ATM. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I do not refer this...
Read moreI went on a Sunday at noon and we were told they are not serving tables anymore even though they close at 1 on Sunday’s. I had called before hand asking about their payment policy and they did not mention to me that they stopped waiting tables at noon. I believe that this was racial motivated, the hostess was white and everybody else in the restaurant was white. When the hostess saw that we were of color, she quickly proceeded to walk us out. There were plenty of seats in the restaurant, she simply did not want to attend us. This behavior seems consistent with other patrons who had similar experiences of not feeling welcomed. Be wary of this place if you are white. I will be reporting to Better Business of Bureau and the Oswego Chamber of Commerce. Other negative reviews received a replied from the restaurant, however, those that mentioned race and color did not often receive a reply from...
