First Watch — Restaurant in Overland Park

Wish I could give a better rating, but simply cannot. Short story: sat at a booth for 1.5 hours so we could end up getting our dine-in food to-go without any time left to actually eat anything.

In town for soccer tournament and had a later Sunday game so we decided to have a nice breakfast and ditch the same old complimentary hotel options.

Props to First Watch for having an online "call ahead" option. It gives one peace of mind to know they can show up with 90 minutes to spare and think they'll have plenty of time to eat. We were seated, drinks ordered, and served quickly. Very good service and pleasant server. After waiting 40-45 minutes for food, were told by server and manager that carryout and large party orders delayed our food being prepared. They apologized, said it wasn't the expectation for their restaurant, and said they would comp the meal and even provided gift cards. This was very much appreciated, and we subsequently assumed our food would be out shortly. We ended up waiting another 40-45 minutes for our food, had to get it carry-out, and our soccer players didn't get to eat until after their game was over.

I cannot understand how a restaurant can acknowledge an order is taking too long, and then take just as long after saying that to get the food out. I would have thought it would be the very next order coming off the line. If we would have been told it would be another 45 minutes to get our food, we would have left and done some quick drive thru.

By the time we were able to eat, the food was anything but special. I'm sure it would've tasted better fresh but we never got that opportunity.

It's so disappointing to have reasonable expectations of a restaurant and be let down...

To: First Watch Corporate, I LOVE my First Watch (they all know my husband and me). However, when you decided to take away the Elote Mexican Street Corn Hash, I haven't been a frequent customer!!!!!!!!

Bring it back and I will give my review 5 stars as it deserves.

For all reading this please note the staff at my First Watch gets 10+ stars BUT I do NEED this dish back.

Shoutout to Colleen, Courtney, and Lawrence because they ALWAYS rock!!!! So, professional yet they talk to you like you're family and make your visit amazing!

UPDATE... 2/28/21 - Attention First Watch;

Some order must be established at your restaurant!!

You are well aware of the layout of your buildings, so please find a way to bring order to the chaos of customers picking up orders, customers coming in to sit and eat, customers checking in from the “Get In Line” option online, and customers standing in lines by customers eating (which is very rude) while waiting to pay and check out.

How about trying tableside payments to ensure a better and more efficient experience for all...

How can you go wrong at First Watch? This restaurant is one of my absolute favorites places to go and especially to bring people to when visiting the Kansas City area. They have something for everyone. For those who enjoy a traditional one or hearth breakfast they have classic plates with healthier alternatives than most breakfast joints. For someone who wants to be me more adventurous and try some thing new this is also the place to go with to try. Also, they have a seasonal menu that showcases limited time editions which is always fun to see what their latest creative dish is. I highly recommend the Pesto Chicken Quinoa Bowl and the Farmhouse Hash. Honestly, whatever you get here you can’t go wrong. The one item I would say to save your money and go with something else is the Million Dollar Bacon. Does it taste great? Of course. Is it worth the cost? Not...
