RAJ EXPRESS INDIAN KITCHEN — Restaurant in Overland Park

First I must say, I am obsessed with butter chicken. I drive from Lenexa to Overland Park to a different restaurant multiple times a week, and have it delivered because I love it so much. I decided to order from this restaurant because it is 4 minutes away and I wanted to give them a try. I love trying new places, and honestly I thought it would be great. I want to cry. This butter chicken is like tasting a can of tomato paste. The tomato is so strong the flavor is resonating in my mouth and will not go away. AND THE CHICKEN IS SO DRY!!! I am going to try to give it away to someone. I would get a refund if I could. Aside from being way too expensive; Atmosphere is nice, menu's look nice and updated. I probably won't order here again, but if you have different taste buds than me and tomato is your thing, please give it a try. I'm sorry this is so long. So I took a 2nd bite and decided I really couldn't eat it and I didn't know anyone I could give it to that would eat it. So I did what I never, ever do and I went up to them and explained and asked if they could please replace it with something different or if I could get a refund. They were very gracious and kind. I went with a chicken biryani because I don't know that you can go wrong with that. I will tell you that it too has a very strong tomato aroma. It doesn't taste like the chicken biryani that I am used to. However it is a beautiful presentation. The chicken is just really really dry and the dish itself is really lacking in flavor. UPDATE: I went back to Raj for lunch on Friday. Let me just say, holy mother of God it was phenomenal! I got the chicken Tikka Masala, rice, and cheese Naan. Good lord it was amazing. Same great service, friendly people, and clean restaurant. I took a bite of the Tikka and then just stared at the bowl in amazement. This place does it right. The Tikka was a little spicier than others I have had but for me that's a great thing. This little gem is an amazing place and I will recommend to anyone who will listen! If you're in OP and ha e a hankering for amazing Indian food with a great staff, clean facility, and amazing food, look no further than Raj express.

Let me just sat, WOW! I stumbled across Raj Indian Kitchen today because the place I was going to go closed in early afternoon and I was craving Indian food. It's 5 minutes from my job.. and only 2 minutes from my previous job that I worked at for several years and I had never tried it. Boy I wish I had!

I got the chicken saag which not all Indian restaurants have saag and I love it so it was an easy choice. As you cab see, the portions were very generous. And most importantly, it was so so so delicious!

The restaurant was clean, fast, and staff was friendly. I believe it was the owner came up to me as I sat outside and asked if I needed any plates or water. They really went the extra mile when I had only placed a pick up order but decided to stay when I saw the shaded patio area.

10/5 stars. Highly recommend. I will be back very soon for saag and to try the other menu items....

Updated: Wanted to give this spot another try due to what was apparently a misunderstanding on my first visit. There weren't any other people seated, but there were two people waiting for carry out. The service was extremely helpful while my two friends and I placed our orders. It took a little over 25 minutes to get our 3 entrees, so I'm not sure express is exactly the right word. Portions are generous and the food was all good I especially enjoyed the samosa Chaat, and would definitely go back to have that again. the best things we had were the street food items, so it would be great to see those options expanded. I didn't love the paneer which seemed to have been grilled?

Made a trip here specifically to try this place. Despite posted hours, they were closed from 2:30-4:30. Edited after response from owner: What you responded below is completely untrue. No one offered to make anything, I was only told you were not serving food again until 4:30. There were two gentlemen outside the restaurant who were both on their cell phones who said nothing to me.
